We stayed in a private room as my friend I was travelling with is new to hostels. It is on the outskirts but easy to walk to and from any major spots. The staff were extremely helpful (even with our 4am check out). It has nice facilities but no air con which may be an issue in summer.

I have stayed in very basic and hostel-like places before, but not for 135$ for a double room. But then apparently that is Boston.
