My wife and I have stayed here several times. The Solamar is on outskirt of the San Diego Gaslamp District and 1 block from Petco Stadium. From when you drive up and you are welcomed by the bellman, to the very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Happy Hour with some free red and white wine from 5pm to 6pm... More

We stayed at the Hotel Solamar while attending a wedding in San Diego. All of the employees went out of their way to be friendly and accomodating. The management of this hotel really cares about creating a very welcoming atmosphere. Our room on the ninth floor was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and we had a view of the Petco baseball... More

Firstly, you must be aware this is a dog friendly hotel, that prides them self on this. I love dogs so I didnt have an issue with them. We stayed here in March 2011, we got the hotel through the unpublished rates on Expedia and we loved it. The room was nice. The location was perfect. We wanted to stay... More

Dear Canada Guest, Glad you enjoyed your pool view room and thanks for your patience regarding Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp. Yes indeed it gets pretty loud with a couple hundred party goers outside the doors. Come back again - we promise there isn't a bead tossing parade every night! I only stayed here one night to be in the city for a business meeting the next day. I was pleasantly surprised at the great service, the cute rooms, the nice gym, and the very attentive staff. Highly recommend for the future. If I had to make only one suggestion it would be that they do not have giant mirrors... More

After transferring from the Palomar, we found the Solamar everything we were hoping for in a trip and a Kimpton Hote. Great location to the Gaslamp area and Petco Park. The rooms were clean and bright. The pool area was relaxing, yet full of activity and fun. Most of all the service we received from all the employees was outstanding.... More

I stayed with friends for a few nights, and we loved the most out of all the ones we stayed in for our two-week Cali-LA road trip. The location was perfect in the Gaslamp Quarter with plenty of restaurants/bars within easy walking distance. Rooms were large, clean and tastefully decorated with comfortable beds. The bathroom was stylish albeit slightly style... More

I stayed here for 3 nights for a conference and loved it. The room on the 9th floor overlooking the pool was spacious and clean. The bed squeaked a little when getting in and out but was very comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean. The complimentary coffee in the morning was a nice touch. The staff, from the front... This is a very stylish hotel. We stayed in a room with a king size bed. The room was big, comfortable and clean. Bathroom had abundant hot water. Amenities are great. Solamar is by far one of the nicest Kimpton properties I've stayed in. Greeted by very friendly staff who were helpful in getting me into my room 3 hours before the 3:00 checkin. Room was HUGE. So much room to spread out. Bathroom was very spacious and bright. Speakman shower heads. Bed was immensely comfortable. View was looking out over... More
