So I live less than 20 miles away and I’ve lived in town close to 30 years. The logistics a downtown party prompted us to spend the night near by. The Sofia tries to be trendy and hip but they think you can give up warmth and practicality to do it. The staff had too much attitude for me. Please... More

The Sofia hotel is historic hotel in the San Diego down town. Excellent location, close to many city "must sees" susch as Gaslamp, harbor, convention center... Staff at the reception desk is OK and I have no complaints. Advice for the European visitors- you can get power adapter at the reception for free. For coffee lovers you can drink "normal"... More

I have stayed at The Sofia Hotel numerous times this was by far the longest. I had a terrific room rate and was upgraded to a suite for the ntire 49 days. The staff including housekeeping are excellent-should you need to contact a live person call Brian or Dodd at the front desk and they are sure to help you... More

I like historic hotels and try to stay in them whenever I can, however this was a very disappointing experience. We arrived about 11 pm and there was no one to help with bringing the bags inside from the taxi ( the bellboy was busy watching tv). The 2 men at the front desk never once cracked a glimmer of... I would give a 3.5 for this Hotel. Although the hotel is not very big, the location, not far away from the Harbor and the Gaslamp, make it perfect for business or leisure in downtown San Diego. The staff in registration are very helpful and knowledgeable about the attractions in downtown area. The room is a bit small compared with... More

Stayed here for cinco de mayo weekend, the room was pretty pricey for what we got, the "Suite" we got was one room and pretty small. All the furnishings looked (and smelled) old. The sink and vanity mirror was located in the bedroom which i found really strange. The bathroom had a sliding door which was fine except for the... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your hotel stay as it is through valued feedback from all of our guests that we can improve our hotel and level of service. It was disappointing to hear that we fell short of expectations and that you will not return. Many guests enjoy our location a step away from the Gaslamp... More

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and I think that was all we could handle. We paid for the upgraded room with a king and were told that the kings were not the best, so basically we upgraded to the king and paid for it...but stayed in a small queen. The hotel itself was tidy and somewhat... More
