I had a great stay at the Abingdon. You cannot beat the location in the heart of the village. Walked to the Village Vanguard one night. Walked to coffee shops and great restaurants. Window shopping, too. Also, it's a couple of blocks from a YMCA which had an online offer of a free one day pass, too. I hadn't ever... More

Contrary to the negative reviews you might see below, this lodging turned out to be ideal for the budget-minded, independent travellers that we are. My daughter and I stayed in the Perrin Room. It had two twin-size beds and the decor reminded me of the homey cottages of Cape Cod. The room and the separate, but private bath, were well-stocked... More

We loved the West Village location, and the notion of an inn rather than an anonymous hotel. The place was clean, but very battered. The manager told us that the owner died earlier this year, and the estate/property is in probate. That may explain some, though not all, of the deteriorated condition. There is also considerable street noise, but, hey,... More

Just spent 4 nights at the Abingdon House with my husband and inlaws, and we would definitely go back again. We had the Roxbury and Windsor Rooms at the 21 8th Avenue address (there is another building at 13 8th Ave). After reading some of the recent reviews I was feeling apprehensive about our visit - but there was no... More

The website no longer represents the actual appearance ....Look elsewhere. Our third stay in the Ambassador room was a terrible mistake...Noise from the office, upstairs room and the hallway were excessive...my recommendation to the new owner-the old one died this year, is to close down and gut the place! Felt gouged! More

We stayed here for a week in later November. The place i cheap, but noisy and shabby. When we got home, I checked my bank account. Then I discovered that the guest house had charged my credit card twice, with different amount. I conctacted the place and were informed that they had eight claims of fraud in one week and... More

I live three blocks from this inn and chose to stay here during my wedding so that family could stay at my apartment. As a New Yorker it made me infuriated that tourists are gouged by this dump just based on location. It is not like the website at all. Our experience went from rocky to worse. First, our reservation... More

If you don't need a luxury hotel setting, this place is sweet! We stayed here two years ago and found it suited our needs perfectly. We liked its character and great location for exploring small parks, diners, markets and boutiques. Blocks from the subway, next door to a nice coffee shop. Old charm, shabby chic. Only complaint is that no... More

We visited Abingdon this past weekend and made our room selection based on their lovely web site. We chose the Sherwin room, which looks NOTHING like the web site photo. We were checked in by the maintenance man, who walked with us up the dingy, winding stairway to our second floor room. He told us that if we stay more... More

I wish I could write a more enthusiastic review, but it is true ... in the years since I last stayed at Abingdon (1999) things have definitely gone downhill. We stayed in the Windsor room, which really does have a lot of funky charm -- but the Ritz it ain't. The bathroom was clean to the point that I didn't... More
