Clean, in the middle of Manhattan facing a cloister garden -- what more do you need? The rooms are very basic, but a good value for Manhattan and it is an interesting place to stay -- the kind of building Hogwarts modeled on (though without all the drama). Quiet (for NY) and located near Columbia.

The Landmark Guest Rooms at Union Seminary is an inexpensive option for lodging. It's next to Columbia University and convenient for the subway and bus routes. The rooms are very clean but also very old. It's a no-frills experience and the rooms on Broadway are pretty loud. All that said, it is an economical place to stay.
