The Blue Moon Hotel captures New York’s contradictions. It is a modern, comfortable hotel in an old tenement building, set in an area of New York which is a mix of the old and the new, where the migrants of previous centuries are bumping up against more recent migrants, particularly Chinese and Vietnamese. The shops that surround it are a... More

Our family and friends gathered at the Blue Moon while in NYC for a wedding in March. The staff were friendly, the rooms were charming; we had a lovely experience. Thanks, Blue Moon, for helping make a special celebration even more special. More

How difficult is it to find a nice room for a family of 4 when the kids are teenagers and want their own bed? Many parents know what I'm talking about. The Blue Moon was our answer and turned out to be a Perfect Fit for our family. The Blue Moon Hotel is an old tenement building that has been... More

This hotel across from the marveloous Tenement Museum was a great value for our overnight while attending a wedding celebration in the financial district. The room had a nice balcony looking over the Williamsburg Bridge. The bed was comfortable and the receptionist's suggestion that we pay $10 more for a better room was well advised because of the view. The... More

Thank you for your great review about the Blue Moon Hotel! We agree, a tour at the Tenement Museum is ideal for history buffs to enjoy while staying with us since the Blue Moon is award winning five-year art preservation and design project. Although we are more like a museum than a hotel we provide huge, well-appointed and immaculate rooms,... More

Really liked this place! First, big props to Javier, working the front desk that night AND the next morning - he made sure I had the best room available, and made sure I liked it. Very helpful, very friendly staff. Maybe a bit too informal, but such is the way. And the location is great! Close to lots of restaurants... More

It is truly a pleasure to learn that you will return to our hotel! We are so delighted that we could provide you with the perfect accommodations. We fretted over every detail and that is how we were chosen by National Geographic Traveler and Allen Sperry’s 100 Best Little Hotels. We greatly appreciate your kind words about our staff. The reviews of Blue Moon Hotel are right, this is not an ordinary hotel. Nowhere the colour beige is found. Whether you find the colour scheme refreshing or not, it is something out of the ordinary. But I'm sure that this is not restoration, rather a hurried painting by a colourblind. The rooms are spacious, the beds are nice. Carpets... More

This is a funky boutique hotel. It has reclaimed furniture and architectural features all lovingly restored. Art decorates everything. Our bedroom was large (it had a sofa and writing table - as well as a king size bed), comfortable and extremely well appointed. The breakfast area in the lobby served fresh bagels and coffee and all the staff were friendly... More

Your kind recognition of all our restorative and artistic efforts is deeply appreciated. We fretted over every detail. Although authentic in historical accuracy, our furniture is not reclaimed; it is period-appropriate with custom fabrics and details. The entire project is a case study in preservation. Commitment and fastidious attention to detail transformed a five-story tenement into a stately eight-story hotel... More

Great desk clerk; she was helpful, real and funny. Realised we were in a rush and sorted out travel directions to our comedy show. Room was large and well stocked but we spent very little time inside. Would have liked to stay longer. Downside was our room (John Garfield) was a bit too orange but bed was super comfy. Old... More

We are delighted that our helpful and convivial staff could help make your NYC trip so enjoyable! Our cozy, yet spacious suites are uniquely designed with all of the luxurious amenities to make our guests feel right at home. Regarding the pipes, all the infrastructure is new. We've stayed here a couple of times and really enjoyed it. The rooms are great and quite big. The staff is always friendly and the bagels in the morning were top notch. The location is interesting; not much right near there, but a subway stop is a few blocks away and can get you anywhere. More

This is a nice Hotel in the Heart of the Lower East Side.. The building is an original tenement building that has been redone in a very retro way. We stayed in the Tommy Dorsey Room which had a small balcony that overlooked the Williamsburg bridge. Clean , close to Soho , shopping, nightlife. If you want to stay in... More
