My husband and I stayed for four nights in May and are very happy with our visit despite some minor inconveniences at the beginning. When we arrived around 12:30-1 pm our room was not ready so we had to come back in a couple of hours. When we did come back, there was a mix up with our reservation because... More

We couldn't fault this hotel. Spacious rooms and very comfy beds. Helpful staff, fresh fruit in reception and tea/coffee making facilities in room. Towels and beds changed daily and piping hot water with lovely bath products. A short walk away from Chelsea market and the highline. I liked being out of the hustle and bustle of N.Y. Ths hotel is... More

We stayed for three nights, Sat-Mon in room 105 (ground floor, courtyard facing). Outside: The hotel has a beautiful water feature at the front which welcomes you through the red sandy brick of the main building (a brilliant place to sit and relax if theres a bit of sunshine) It's the perfect blend of modern and old. Chelsea is a... More

Someone said the Desmond Tutu center building was a bit like the Harry Potter school, and I agree. The building and its rooms have great historical character and provide a calm and beautiful ambience. It´s close to great eateries in Chelsea and close to the underground, a few blocks away. Great service and friendly staff. I would definitely stay there... More

I stayed here for 2 nights and was very impressed with the size and cleanliness of the room, extreme helpfulness of the staff and the location which was perfect for Chelsea, Meat Packing High Line and easy walking distance to lots of other areas. Rooms comes with an ipod / iphone speakers and charger which is really helpful, and the... More

What a beautiful property - gorgeous buildings and grounds. So nice to just walk around and explore the quiet grounds - be sure to step into the chapel and the refectory. An easy stroll to Union Square and Chelsea Market, and a 20 minute walk from Penn Station. Front desk was very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, clean and... More

after reading so many positive reviews we chose the Desmond Tutu for our first trip to New York because we wanted to be located in a neighbourhood where we could walk around and mix with a local community and we didn't want to be in a highrise, and, what a perfect choice this turned out to be. we were booked... We were so pleasantly surprised by the Desmond Tutu Center - the room was huge and oh so quiet even though it was so close to 10th...super easy access to the high line and not too far from the subway - staff was so accomodating...Cannot wait to return! More

On the outside this hotel looks like an orphanage or a madhouse, but inside they have taken advantage of the space to adapt a clean, simple and quiet business hotel. Good selection for businesses close to the trendiest area of Manhattan. More

I've just spent 3 nights in the Desmond Tutu centre, on business. The standout positive qualities of the place are the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness and quality of the rooms (small but perfectly formed) and the pleasure of staying in an unusual, quirky space in NYC. The location is good - almost on the Highline, close to many... More
