The rooms were very shabby. Rugs snagged and spotty. The bed was on a metal frame that squeaked awful. The service at the bar was the worst. Girls in tiny black dresses that only waited on you if you were wearing a suit or dripping in diamonds. The Algonquin needs to hurry up and get renovated already!! More

A weekend in New York at the Algonquin. Wonderfully eccentric, steeped in NYC history, old-fashioned service and values, all refreshing to me but maybe an acquired taste.
