A shame to review this beautiful hotel so poorly... They used to have it all: charm, location, antiques, freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast, the nicest tea room... But now it is so dirty and not that well kept anymore. Very worn and asking for some attentive maintenance soon. More

Beautifully decorated and well kept, felt like we were somewhere a bit special. Very comfortable bed very quiet considering the excellent location. Ideal for a quiet, relaxing and romantic retreat when one has been walking aroung NYC all day. We had complimentery Prosecco on arrival (not sure whether this was becasue we were on honeymoon or not - they didn't... More

We had planned on a five night stay and left after one. If you squint, the room in this old townhouse was amazing, but with eyes wide open, the room was in a rather sad poor state: - Mold in the mini bar / fridge - Furniture falling apart (beyond shabby chic and into plain shabby territory) - Stale musty... We went there for afternoon tea and booked several days ago. Time limit is one and half an hour but we were 20 minutes late because of the trains. Maybe I just expect too much, but... I don't think afternoon tea should be like this way... We had very rushed courses one after another because of our time. They served... More

Irving Place is a quiet street in Manhattan, near the Garmercy Park, Union Square, ABC Carpet & Home, the village... Without the name at the door, only the number: 56. And through the door, all is magic. A helpful and correct staff, amazing interior design, adorable rooms with fireplace. The breakfast at the Lady Mendl´s excelent. You can expect to... More

After suffering through many nights at trendy Manhattan hotels, I came across this little gem and couldn't be happier! The street is quite but within a block of Union Square and all that action..plus several great little bars and eateries within eyesight. The hotel is quaint, yet elegant. The hotel staff friendly and helpful but not chatty or intrusive. It's... More

This hotel was lovely, everyone who worked there was helpful and pleasant. The decor was interesting very victorian, the room was very pretty, however the bed was as hard as a rock. The sheets were nice however. You are on a quiet street, without all the normal insainty of most NYC hotels. I liked it alot. I don't think I... More

If you love intimate, warm, delightful, quirky, deliciously comfortable and being in the middle of everything that is wonderful about NY look no further. If you are looking for elevators, business centers, spas, gyms, concierge desk and everything branded this hotel is not for you. But the flip side is a handful of rooms, Frette linen, breakfast (included) in the... More

This is a lovely hotel, reminiscent of a (very nice) English B&B. Fantastic furniture and decorations, really lovely attentive staff and wonderful breakfast. The hotel was always full of people enjoying the tea rooms, holding small private parties or just enjoying the atmosphere. The only draw back was the noise due to the private parties, but this was not excessive.... More
