This hotel is well located on the Upper East Side within walking distance of the Jewish Museum, Guggenheim, Met, etc. Unfortunately, the room was quite small. The closet was awkward, and there was no place to put the suitcase. The toilet handle was loose, and the toilet tended to run unless the handle was placed in exactly the right spot.... More

I am now officially WAY over staying in the midtown area in NYC and I think the Upper East Side may be my preferred locale. It's QUIET and you can actually walk the streets at a relatively leisurely pace. The Hotel Wales is in a great spot, 92nd and Madison Ave. Near the park and the subway, walking distance to... More

In NY for a meeting at the Academy of Medicine. Arrived on Mother's Day. Beautiful weather so NYC streets packed with families and tourists. Temp was pretty warm. After a long day that included an aborted attempt to get downtown on the subway we hiked the Bklyn Bridge for lunch in Brooklyn, JUst around sunset we arrived at Hotel Wales.... More

I spent Friday and Saturday night at the Hotel Wales. Room perfect for one person and I enjoyed the shower and done over bathroom. Sarabeths is restaurant next door and convenient. Get to breakfast early as the restaurant fills up with local neighbors. 10 floors and two small elevators make and open central stairway make everything easily accessible. Nice sitting... More

A great little hotel in the upmarket upper east side, excellently located for fifth avenue and central park. Nicely laid out room with lovely large and comfortable beds and really clean bathroom with great rainshower. Topped off by wonderfully helpful and pleasant staff, we'll be back for sure. More

Only stayed one night and total time in the hotel was 11 hours - 7 sleeping - so I have limited feedback. Nice little hotel. Easy check-in and out. Great service - needed an iron and board - had it to my room in minutes. Clean rooms. Large bathroom. Regulating hot & cold in shower was a bit confusing -... More

I thought Hotel Wales was a charming little hotel with very friendly front of staff and in a great location close to fabulous restaurants (particularly useful as there isn't room service to speak of - they will get food from restaurant next door). Modern decore and very comfortable bed... Only issues was the heating couldn't be controlled! Woke up at... More

Stayed for the second time at Hotel Wales, but not in a suite this time. The regular room I had was tiny, although the bathroom was more than ample. The good: bed was very comfortable, room clean and neat. The bad: no individual heat control, so the room was hot and stuffy. Insufficient closet space. Windows open, but there are... More

Stayed here in February of 2007-08. Got a suite. Big minus: Bathroom was very chilly and unappealing, with only a standup shower. Other minuses: The free breakfast included in room price was not a full buffet, but a relatively light affair with some breads, juice, and coffee. Pay extra if you want more substantial bf. Internet in room was not... More

I stayed one night by myself, mainly due to the hotel's proximity to Mt Sinai Hospital (10 minute walk). Friendly and helpful staff. Small neighborhood grocery right next door, with plenty of restaurants on Madison Avenue, ranging from upscale (Sarabeth's) to inexpensive. I went to Jackson Hole (chicken sandwich and fries) and Yura's (breakfast) and was happy with both. My... More

Thank you for choosing the Hotel Wales. We really appreciate your comment. Please be advised that the maintenance of our property is one of our primary focus. Most of our sleeping rooms have been upgraded. Currently, we've been replacing our sofa beds in the one-bedroom suites. In regards to the bed linens and carpeting, the refurbishing process is always on-going.... More
