What a great, relaxing time we had at the Richard Johnston Inn! Our room ("The Loft") was quite smartly furnished, with a great sitting area and a very comfy king bed in "the loft". It was so very relaxing after a hard, long week. The Innkeeper, Bonnie, was just a delight as were her two Schnauzers. The outdoor terrace (in... More

We enjoyed a wonderful 5 days in Fredericksburg celebrating our daughter's graduation. Having a great place to stay made the trip more enjoyable. Our room, the Canopy, was furnished nicely with antiques yet had a TV discreetly in the wardrobe. Everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Bonnie and staff were very helpful and attentive to needs. She... More

Our extended family enjoyed a wonderful weekend in Fredericksburg to celebrate a University of Mary Washington graduation and the Richard Johnston suites, rooms and courtyard were our home away from home. It was our gathering and visiting spot between events and Bonnie's boxed breakfasts and shuttle service to the campus for the graduation morning were a huge treat and help.... More

If you like antiques, and you're satisfied with a primitive heating/cooling system, shabby bathrooms, second-rate plumbing, and third-rate breakfasts, you may enjoy the Richard Johnston Inn. If not, I suggest you look elsewhere. More

Mr. Garrett was here for 3 nights. He first stated that his room was to cool, so I offered to adjust the temperature, then he said it was fine. During the week we serve an extended continental breakfast of fresh fruit, homemade breads, cereals, yogurt ,bananas, juces and coffee - this is stated on our website. This past weekend was... More

We stayed at the Richard Johnston Inn in Fredericksburg which was highly recommended by the Chamber of Commerce. We love to stay at B&B's and this one was no exception. Run by Bonnie, an expert in the business, our room was wonderful, the breakfast sensational and wholesome (Bonnie is an exceptional chef). Her directions on "touring", where to go, what... More

My wife and I recently enjoyed 2 nights at the Richard Johnston Inn's Caroline House. We enjoyed one of the nicest rooms we have experienced in our travels as far as B&Bs are concerned. The room was well appointed, clean, and offered a great amount of privacy. The courtyard outside the room was a very relaxing place to enjoy our... More

We had the pleasure of staying at the 1890 Caroline House, sister home to the Richard Johnson Inn. We were created warmly by Lindsi upon our arrival. She showed us around the house and to our room. Lindsi offered suggestions for restaurants in the area. Everything was within walking distance! We parked our car and didn't get back in it... More

I'm not a very good reviewer, but made a quick get away to RJ. I live close by. I stayed in the Frejus which is at the top of the stairs. The furnishings are wonderful and it was so relaxing. Bonnie, the inn keeper was a sweetheart and I enjoyed meeting my fellow guests at a sumptuous breakfast feast. More

As B & B's go this one for it's location and overall appeal was above average. The rest of the stay was below average. We were with a group of 9 couples which had all the rooms in the inn. However the innkeeper booked a wedding party in on top of us which greatly impaired our use of the courtyard... More

I am replying to the 3 reviews of the guests who stayed the weekend of 4-21 & 22. I just returned from vacation and I am really upset by these comments. I tried to please everyone that weekend and by this response, I failed. The wedding was to go from 5:30 pm - 8:30pm, they were not friends, they were... More

My wife and I have stayed in a number of B & B's--usually with friends. On 4/20 & 4/21 we stayed in the Isabella’s Suite at The Richard Johnston Inn. The room was very nice although we learned when the shower spewed water on the floor that the floor was very dirty--we used a towel to sop up the water... More
