My husband and I spent two nights, and when it was time to leave, we wished we could stay a week longer. This time we went to Silver City in order to visit the cliff dwellings; next time we'll go just to spend a few days at the Bear Mountain Lodge, truly a special place. Rather than provide details, I'll... More

The lodge is only a few miles outside of town. The road is slow going but the short wait is worth it. The setting is beautidul and serene and the lodge itself is a charming building with large comfortable rooms. Best is the service. Gracious and attentive without hovering at all. Very relaxing. More

Great escape. Felt pampered with the extraordinary food and surroundings, plus the owners and staff are wonderful. Enjoyed having the dinner for two nights. This was an extra cost (breakfast is included) but we were glad not to have to drive and could just relax in the evenings. Food was delicious. You need to give 24 hours notice if you... More

Bear Mountain Lodge has a fascinating history beginning in the late 1800's as a boarding school, children's ranch, dude ranch and cattle ranch. It has been owned by some very interesting local characters.... most recently The Nature Conservancy.. up to the present day with it's 7 current owners. There are great art pieces, both inside and in the outdoor areas.... More

Hi, I'm Tesla. I am a large black dog and have stayed in many hotels and such. Some say they are pet friendly, but they only tolerate me although I am perfectly behaved and I am friendly to everyone despite how snotty some humans can be. But the people at Bear Mountain Lodge made me feel loved. This is the... More

Last weekend we took our two horses up to Silver City to ride the trails through the pinon forest and attend a weekend dinner. They seemed delighted to accommodate our horses in a clean pen that they had prepared with plenty of fresh water. While there are only about five miles of trails on the property, a gate takes you... This sophisticated spotlessly clean home is also an art gallery owned by a talented artist and her husband who are knowledgeable about art, food and wine and area hiking and attractions. Beautiful paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry and other objects of art are plentiful and tastefully arranged everywhere you look delighting the eyes and inspiring conversation. The room was quiet and... More

My husband and I had the great fortune to get a very last minute , on the off chance, booking here for one night in August. We arrived actually feeling quite stressed from our last place (which we had left a day early- another story! Bear Mountain Lodge restored our sanity!). From the minute we arrived, we immediately felt totally... More

We stayed in the Wrens Nest on a travel tour of New Mexico and found this site from Tripadvisor recommendations. We knew it might be a little over the top for the boys but we wanted a change. And that needed change is what we got. Immediately greated by Jeffrey he showed us around the house, apprised us of the... More
