I've been to NOLA several times in the past and did a combination business/personal visit in early May. I chose Fairchild because it is just 2 blocks from one of my destinations and the price was reasonable. I stayed in room 14 which is a standard room on the 2nd floor. The only real snafu during my stay was the... More

It was such a pleasure to have you stay with us. I have placed a sign by the bell, so we do not have that issue again. The original room booked was a standard room, and I upgraded you to the Superior Queen. Just wanted to clarify that for future guests. As far as the vanity, I will need to... More

First and foremost you must realize that Fairchild House is not going to provide you with a grand, supernatural B&B experience. It's a simple place run by a caring mother and her daughter. So, if you want a regal B&B experience you will need to look elsewhere. However, if you are a traveler who prefers to be in an unpretentious... More

We stayed 3 nights at the Fairchild House and it was everything we expected. We normally stay in the Quarter or CBD along Canal and wanted to try something different this year. If you're expecting a perfect cookie cutter room with 24 hour service - stay in a hotel. If you want character, give Fairchild House a chance. If you'll... More

I love reading your review, you really got it!. I know you both enjoyed your stay with us and had a wonderful time in New Orleans. I appreciate you taking the time to go over the details of your stay at our property.. The WIFI is getting an upgrade in the next month or two. I had a difficult time... More

This is definitely not a posh bed and breakfast, more like a boardinghouse feel. The bed linens were very worn (holes in the bedskirt and pilly bedspread), the pillows were super thin, and the "king-sized" bed (the reason we chose this B&B) was actually two very different height twin beds pushed together. But for the price, it was actually fine.... More

You were right about the bed skirt having a hole, that has been changed. The practice of putting 2 twins together is not unusual in B&B's. I did not see any problems with the height of the beds, pillows, pilly spread, or ac unit. Our breakfast type is clearly stated on our web page. It is a Continenal Plus. We... More

I stayed here just this past weekend for Mardi Gras. This was my first Mardi Gras experience and the original plan was to meet friends from Houston, although I knew I would arrive first. I came down from Virginia and drove through the night, arriving in New Orleans somewhere around 11:30. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to check... More

The quality of a bed and breakfast is greatly enhanced by on-site hosts and interaction with them and guests no matter what the facilities are like. At the Fairchild, I felt like I was in a laissez-faire affair akin to the pre-Katrina attitude of most waitstaff in New Orleans. OK, I had a Groupon, but doesn't that mean they want... More

Sorry to hear you had so much trouble finding us. I have added a note on the directions page on our site for guests to be on the lookout for the number on the house and not the name. I hope this helps. The gate is locked for security reasons. Rebecca was there waiting for you and there was a... More

My wife and I stayed at this B&B for two nights in late January 2012. The house was built between 1841 and 1860 and as such doesn't have much, if any, insulation. Since it is the winter and temperatures do drop into the 30's and 40's in New Orleans, it was cold at night. Our two room suite had an... More

Thank you for the time to review the Fairchild House. It was quite cold when you were here! I went to check on that heater in the parlor and see what you mean about it not being able to keep the room warm. I replaced it with a new one that I think will work better. I guess we all... More

This was the worst B&B we have ever stayed in. "It" is, actually, three buildings. There is not a sign on a building so we had to watch for the address number. We rang the bell at the front gate, and a young lady came out. She took us to the middle building, unlocked the door, and took us in... More

I hope the rest of your trip was better. I apologize for not being here, however as I have mentioned in another response and will again, I had to be away for a couple of weekend in January. The property does have 3 pictures as pictured on our web site. There is a bell at the front gate located at... More

I'm honestly shocked at the good reviews below. The room was tiny, old (I know it's supposed to be that way..but not remodeled at all), and COLD! Honestly it's a great place for a photographer to do a session or a history buff..but not anyone that wants a nice room. It was like we were staying at our great grandmothers... More

I am sorry you had such a terrible time at our property, I hope your other experiences in New Orleans were better and fun. Our standard rooms are the smallest rooms we have. I went in the room you stayed in and there is nothing wrong with the window unit. If the unit is not set to the proper temperature... More

The Fairchild House is a great old house that reminds me of visiting old friends for a couple of days. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and cozy. It isn't far from the streetcar line and the location is perfect for going anywhere in New Orleans. You won't need a car at all. This would be a... More
