Dangerous electrical situation, window unit A/C and all lamps all plugged into same single outlet. Missing blade from ceiling fan that didn't work, filthy carpeting. Pool deck looked warped and unsafe. Mattress was new in the '70's maybe? I paid for two nights, but left after one, never to return. More

I wanted to offer a very positive review for St Charles Guest House at 1748 Prytania St in New Orleans, La. I had the opportunity to stay there for two days and nights in mid April, 2012. This Guest House has an old world charm to it, and also is very affordable with a homey atmosphere. The innkeepers are Dennis... More

We want to thank our guest for taking the time to tell us of their observations.. We always try very hard to accomodate our guests in such a way that they have a safe enjoyable and friendly stay in New Orleans. That is our goal but sometimes we fail with our objectives. We advise guests to let us know if... More

We stayed here on a family trip in March. We'd lodged at the Marriott on Canal a few years ago and wanted to try someplace more intimate this time around. If you enjoy immersing yourself in the local color (and don't mind being without a TV or having a little peeling paint on the floorboards) this is a wonderful place,... More

Just thought i would update with pics of the new tent around the pool. A great addition to a fun and friendly place. Still not for everyone. Not the Marriott. No teevees. Kept clean but don't expect a rehabbed property. Like New Orleans, this place will show its age. More

The St. Charles Guest House is a place I have visited often. The phrase "shabby chic" comes to mind. It is a cool place to be, for people who aren't interested in luxury. Some of the rooms have cosmetic issues, but I have always found that the price reflects this. Great breakfast room. Interesting visitors, often from all over the... More

Old, poorly maintained, dirty, bad smell (mildew). The plastic shower curtain was of a brownish color, must have been there for years. It looks as if the place has not been painted since the civil war. Unfortunatly no other accommodation was available under 350$ (St-Patrick week-end) or else we would have requested reimbursement and moved elsewhere. Advice: don't pay for... More

St. Charles Guesthouse is a charming, lovely, and unique establishment. To be frank, it's not for everyone, but for those seeking something unique and quintessentially New Orleans. It harks back to a time of ease and interesting company. It's not about the rooms, but the experience. It's the sort of place where you will most definitely stumble upon something special...whether... More

Pros: Location (the best!), reasonably priced, staff was extremely friendly and helpful, quiet (didn't hear other guests ever) Cons: Poorly maintained (carpets are thredbare, stains on ceiling, wallpaper peeling or painted over in spots, paint peeling on outside of building, rotted boards on building and on deck), dirty bathroom, moldy smell, sagging mattresses, parking was a nightmare. We knew this... More

My stay at the St. Charles was comfortable and the service was reliable, friendly, and welcoming. The rooms give you the feeling of being a cherished guest at your Lousianna aunt's city home. Charming, quiet, and cozy. Plenty of heat on cool days and nice and cool on warm days. If you are a writer or someone who loves history... More
