I had never stayed in a hostel prior to the Green Tortoise. I was extremely pleased with the following: reserving the room online was convenient; the GT offered excellent tips on how to travel via light rail to and from the airport; the staff offered great recommendations for dining; and the location can't be beat. I highly recommend staying here. More

The location is great, right next to Pike Place market. The bathrooms were clean, as were the rooms although the dorms were a bit tired looking and in need of a little tlc. The hostel provided breakfast each morning and offered a good number of excursions, some free. It's geared towards younger people. We had to change our booking at... More

I made my reservation online but called a couple of days prior to arriving just to confirm because of my late arrivel. The guy on the phone was very helpful and gave great advice about getting the train into the city rather than the taxi or shuttle bus I had originally planned on getting. When I arrived at the hostel... More

This is a "hostel"....Rates are about $30.00/35.00 the night....It is clean, the beds (like Pullman beds in the old trains, because they have curtains and lights and a fan!).Staff is friendly....... They have a "free" dinner once per week - and interesting tours of the hot spots of Seattle. This is a young person's place, but they do welcome older persons... More

We stayed here late March 2012. Location location location! This is a great start off point to explore Seattle. Across the street from Pike Market your in the middle of it all! The hostel itself is good. We stayed in a privat room. The beds are ok. Rooms are quite and clean. The shared bathrooms are big and clean. Good... More

Stayed here 4 nights - first night was a 1 star but the others were so good it made it to 5 stars in my book. First night we were stuck in a room with a drunk 50-60 year old man who had been drinking whiskey and smoking until he stumbled in at 12:30am, peeking in everyone's privacy curtains, turning... More

The location of this hostel was fantastic and it attracted a variety of different kinds of travellers- young people, business men, families... etc. The rooms were definitely too small, however each bed had it's own curtain (on a rail), power socket and reading lamp which certainly made up for the tight squeeze! The kitchen was pretty good, and guests were... More

Really enjoyed staying here. Location can't be beaten as its right across from the market and Seattle is pretty walkable in general. Great rooms with comfy beds and curtains you can draw with huge lockers underneath. only downside here I guess is if you can't fit your bag here it would create a bit of a logistical issue in the... huge comfy beds with a locker under it and a curtain that makes one hell of a difference about privacy. Great tours, free dinner every second night, a very rich breakfast offering choice! A smokers room! Freaky, nice, individual staff. Top location. But it is easy to get stuck INSIDE the hostel. cos so awesome bthrooms and kitchen very clean More

Book this hostel - trust me. Food The included breakfasts are delicious (make your own pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, toast, bagels, and even brownies), provided dinner was spaghetti, garlic bread, steamed veggies, with a veggie sauce that you could add ground beef to if you wanted. There was a "food for sharing" corner in the kitchen, where you can... More
