Just stayed at the Historic Anchorage for the second time. Charming small hotel, great location, free breakfast. Heard about ghost stories but didn't hear or see anything. Rooms are a bit small compared to some other hotels but perfectly adequate and beds and pillows are fluffy and comfy. As in many older buildings, there are creaks and squeaks and room-to-room... Only stayed one night on our way to Seward to catch a cruise, but the hotel was clean, full of character and very central, and the staff were friendly and helpful, recommending things to do and places to eat. Breakfast was basic but okay. We didn't expect any ghosts and weren't disappointed! We enjoyed being able to walk from our... More

We stayed here looking for a historic Anchorage adventure. There were few other guests when we stayed and had some fun experiences: footsteps in the hall, tapping on the walls, and some moving curtains. We can't wait to go back! Beyond the permanent residents of the hotel- it was a fabulous place to stay. The rooms are nice and cozy... More

My wife and I recently travelled to Anchorage for a meeting, and we extended our stay for 4 days to explore Alaska. The hotel was terrific. Terri and her staff were all very helpful. The breakfast in the morning was a real treat to get our day started just right. We love "historic" hotels, full of character and ambiance, and... More

We are so happy to hear that you had a Great Alaskan Adventure! It is wonderful to have a staff of great people who genuinely care about every guest. Thank you for sharing your photos and review. We were lucky this month and had few moose hanging around downtown. We look forward to hosting you both again in the summer! More

Visiting Anchorage for the ceremonial start of the Iditarod Dog Sled Race, we couldn't have picked a better location. When we arrived, the friendly staff printed a schedule of activities for start day and shared tips on good places to view the action. They were right on all counts and it was easy to take part in everything as the... More

Coming into the lobby was like walking back in time in old town Anchirage. My husband and I spent a lot of time sitting by the fire. The Belgian waffle breakfast buffet was a nice surprise. The staff were above the normal helpful level. Our room was warm cozy and clean. To be able to walk out the door and... More

This was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had (and I travel >100k miles per year). Terri and her staff were fantastic. They had terrific advice for getting out and about, they helped me to ship stuff back home, and every staff member knew my name right from the first day. Terri even extended breakfast hours for a... We stayed here for one night in June at the conclusion of a three-week journey through BC and AK. Both the City of Anchorage and the Historic Anchorage Hotel were unexpected pleasures. We had no expectations for Anchorage and assumed it would be simply a way-station prior to our return flight. Instead, we spent a thoroughly enjoyable 24 hours in... More

I travel to Anchorage often and over the the last 30 years have stayed in most of Anchorages hotels. The Historic Anchorage Hotel is where I stay on almost every trip now. Terri, Jessica and the rest of the staff are amazing! Just spent 8 grueling days in Anchorage working, it was nice to be able to come 'home' every... More

Obviously not a modern hotel - but well above expectations of a hotel with the word 'historic' in its name. Clean, comfortable room - great complimentary breakfast. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Must thank Jessica on the front desk when we arrived for her wonderful friendly and helpful attitude - a real credit to the hotel! More
