Zero star , a bed bug woke me up at 4 am crawling on my leg , when I told the manager in the morning he said I brought it in from the lodge where I stayed before , when I said no to him I didn't bring bed bugs here. He started raising his voice at me and telling it's impossible to have them here but continued saying I brought them there , this was after 4 days of paying my 2nd month rent $600 gone no refund I left this hostel cuz the manager was disrespectful me , the owner of this place wouldn't even look at u or say hi , this place is dirty specially the bathroom skin shedding always on toilet seat . You are not allowed to eat in your room like normal hostels and no shoes inside . If you pay with credit card they hand write ur credit card number and save it after they swipe it . The manager s mission is to make the tenants homeless just takes their money . He gave refund to someone people in the past but not me , he also talks crap about landlord and his female coworker .

I booked a private room for a week which was close to $450. Does not come with a private bathroom or a sink or fridge in the room. The place is clean and there’s a desk in the room and closet space however given the price can’t say I’d recommend it. They don’t offer free food or put on social events for the guests, however I like to support small family owned businesses so I get it, they gotta charge more during the high season. They don’t offer cash discounts or weekly rates either atleast not when I was there.

I arrived late so instructions for getting in were very clear. However, the room I shared with 3 other women smelled heavily of bug spray. There was a fan on to keep the room cool (good) and the bathroom was relatively close by. It was clean enough for a shared bathroom - I decided not to risk a shower because it appeared to be held together with duct tape. This place fit my budget but I'll look for another place to stay the next time I'm traveling through Anchorage.

Not particularly memorable, small but functional room, the bathrooms weren't in the greatest condition and a bit lackluster but honestly, for the price it was decent. Kitchen is pretty huge and well-equipped. It is in what felt like a sketchy part of town though, so not exactly the most pleasant to walk around

This was not a bad place to stay - not to expensive and generally clean. My friend and I stayed in one of the private rooms. It's a little far away from the Downtown area of Anchorage but a short Lyft ride away. For the price, it's worth the stay.

My husband and I booked a private room on both the first night in Alaska and the last night in Alaska. Checking in both times was fine- the worker happened to hear us drive up both times and came and opened the door. There was some confusion about the cost we had to pay as I booked through hotels.com- however we ended up being charged about what I expected after showing my paperwork. The room was small, but the bed was comfortable. There was a TV in the room and a small closet. The shared bathroom was close to access and never had any issues with it being busy. The shower wasn't clean, but I think that was more due to users not cleaning up after themselves, probably between cleans. There is a no shoes rule in the hostel, also no alcohol and no food in the rooms. The kitchen is huge and well stocked. Including multiple fridges and a freezer. As we had a rental car the location worked fine for us. There wasn't really a "hang out area" , as only met others in the kitchen area. Wifi was good and quick. It was good value for expensive Alaska and would stay again for a night if passing through the area again.

I booked through Travelocity. This hostel just ignores all the rules. They charged my credit card for full amount even before I showed up. (it was not just holding for deposit. They charged it) Travelocity stated that the hostel should have not charged by policy (Reserve now and pay later). But Hostel representative basically yelled at me saying "we always charge before they come regardless of policy where you booked from" Also they charged $2.00/night more than what the pricing on Travelocity saying "Hotel guest fee". I did not like the way they operate, so I cancelled reservation. They only refunded me what was advertised on Travelocity and did not refund $2.00/night for entire reservation. For your sake, do not stay here. Do not even make reservation. You will end up with headache and donating money to them for their crappy service.

It seems like my experience is much like many of the previous reviewers. At least the hostel is consistent! When I arrived at the hostel I knocked on the door twice, the window once and the office window once. No one responded. So then I knocked on the door more firmly and a staff member finally heard me. She commented on how I “banged” on the door, but I said I had already knocked four different times with no response. Then she could not find my reservation, so she said I should wait for Jay to come. When Jay finally came, I showed him my email confirmation. He seemed a bit confused, but I got a bed in a bunk room in any case. The hostel is mostly clean, but seems a bit worn and rough around the edges. Doors to the bathroom don't all close tightly. The hand soap in the bathrooms is so diluted that it seems like nothing more than colored water. This is the only hostel that charges a bed tax on dormitory/hostel beds. I have stayed in several other hostels in Anchorage, and none charge a bed tax (because according to my research, multi-bed hostel bunks are not subject to such tax). The hostel also charges an insane $2/night credit card fee (about 8%). I have stayed in this hostel multiple times this year and in prior years. I will unfortunately try to avoid it in the future. Airbnb's can be very close to the same price, but with far less hassle and attitude.

First rule: bring your own indoor shoes. You will need them for the restrooms and showers. Second rule: follow all other rules. There are lots of them. Check in wasn't too friendly and room was dirty: dried snot on walls (lots) and dried-out contacts left on the counter. TV was disconnected/didn't work but was fixed when we asked. We hardly slept for two nights.

Bathroom and kitchen are very clean. I appreciated their help considering my super later arrival to Anchorage (~1am). Their directions were spot on and I was able to enter my hostel safely. There are signs everywhere about things to NOT do. A woman in my room was yelled at, in front of everyone, for forgetting to take her shoes off. Publicly shaming her! It was a small accident, and I understand probably everyone does it and can be annoying, but people are human and imperfect and your job requires to meet a lot of them, so please be more patient. I always felt like I was going to "break a rule" (as shown in notes everywhere) and that I would get in trouble. Uncomfortable stay in that respect. Met some cool people, and we all agreed, we wish this hostel encouraged group interactions more. I understand that finding the right balance of respecting the facility and allowing people to be happily social is difficult, but I didn't enjoy feeling like a criminal.
