My husband and I recently spent a night in this lovely old home while exploring Lincoln sites. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful house which is packed with antiques. We stayed in the Captain’s Room which received plentiful natural light and was very pleasant; however all the rooms looked perfectly charming. The hosts are exceptionally personable and provided us with an... More

Lovely old house - 1871! Yes, as old houses are, repairs and upkeep are constantly needed. We enjoyed our stay - food was good and the Captain's Quarters were quite comfortable. The house is filled with many antiques! Drawback: Our room and the Campaign Room are separated only by a door, so we could hear the guests talking in that... More

My wife and visited Springfield recently to go to the Abraham Lincoln Museum and had a wonderful stay at this B&B. The Rippon Kinsella House is a charming mansion and in a very good location for such Springfield attractions as the Lincoln Museum. On our arrival we were warmly greeted by our host. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters which... More

My wife and I spent our wedding night at the RK in December, before flying to our honeymoon. When we arrived at 9:30pm (exactly the time we had arranged) after a long, long day, we found a note on the door: "Dear [wrong names], We're out at a friend's place. Please call [number] and we'll be right over." We called... More

We are sorry that these guests were dissapointed with their stay. We were at our neighbors and got there as soon as they called us. There seems to be some disagreement about breakfast arrangements for their early departure the next morning. Roger said that they decided they didn't need any breakfast, which is why no one was downstairs in the... More

OK in a way - but, read on: Nice people (guest inn keepers were there when we arrived). We felt very welcome. Like Jeff L. said, the outside does not present itself well, DITTO to his comments. There is much to be done outside, and I guess will never be done! A once lovely old house that needs much more... More

Can't believe I forgot to write a review on this place, so it's a bit late. I was in the maids room, which had a great bed, bathroom, and If I remember rightly, a fully private separate sitting area, separated by a door to bedroom and another door to the back staircase, I.e you walked through your sitting area to... We are a Chicago couple that ventured to Springfield for the State Fair and a little sight seeing. It was a great location for us and we were immediately welcomed and made to feel at home. The room was clean quiet and very comfortable. We had the Maids room which was like a mini suite with a setarate bedroom, sitting... More

I made a reservation after looking at the website. What a beautiful old charming house.... Well when I arrived at first I thought I must have the wrong address. But to my amazment I didn't. The front yard was full of piles of debris, branches and piles of building materials mostly old stuff. The porches were either torn off of... More

We stayed the night as we were going to the museums in Springfield. Location is great, rooms are filled with antiques and the victorian house is just amazing. The BnB has 3 rooms you can stay in so it is quiet and clean!! Roger & Dave are great hosts. When we arrived we had wine & cheese. They asked us... More

We stayed a night in the Captain's Quarters and we were taken aback by the superb decorating in our room as well as the entire house. The owners showed a real passion for their work on the house. They were very friendly and within one night you felt like a part of the family! The breakfast was great. They were... More
