We have stayed here twice and would stay here again and again. We rented a cabin with a bathroom and air conditioning. You don't need the air because it is cool here in the summer. This is the most reasonable place to stay in the Black Hills and is right on the George S Mickelson Bike Trail. The cabins are... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in the Ranch Camp area in a tent this past June. This area is shaded and pretty and seems like a real campground...not like a KOA. The sites are well spaced, the restrooms/showers were clean. Ranch Camp is furthest from the store and pool, but with bikes you can get down there in a... More

Stayed here for 2 nights & from the moment you enter the campground you realize that it is one of the best in the country. The campground is huge, well maintaned, clean & quiet. You get the feeling that it is well managed & that everything is in place. I stayed in a traditional 4-person cabin & it was a... More

Great location and what you see on the web site is what you get, you have plenty of space between camp sites and your less than an hour from most of all the major sites. The bathhouse is clean and spotless and the wildlife (deer) walks thru the park almost every night, people are friendly overall a great place to... More

We rented one of the traditional 4-person cabins for a 1-night stay on a cross-country road trip. The cabin is very simple, but comfortable and pet-friendly. (Not all of the cabins are pet-friendly, so make sure you confirm.) There was a queen bed, twin bunkbeds, and a little table. No linens, so make sure you bring some or have sleeping... More

We chose this campground for tent camping based on its proximity to attractions, hot showers and the pool. I would have preferred a place a bit more rustic, wooded, and secluded, but others we were traveling with were less into roughing it and this place was a good compromise. Lazy J seems to cater more to the RV crowd which,... More

We stopped here on the way home from Yellowstone and while our campsite was dug out of hill and a bit small it was a quiet, gorgeous place to stop and camp. The bathrooms were a LONG climb back up the hill so I would say they need more restrooms and showers throughout. All in all we had plenty of... More

We went on a 2-week trip from Chicago to California through Rushmore & Yosemite, and then back through Grand Canyon and Moab. Our favorite stop along the way - we were here for two nights - was Rafter J Bar Ranch. Beautiful and quiet grounds. Friendly staff. Clean amenities. And a nice pool. More

After reading other reviews, we decided to camp here for 2 nights while visiting Mt. Rushmore. So glad we did. Campground is very nice, clean, staff friendly and helpful. Really large sites and more open space then you typically expect from a private rv park. We toured one of their cabins also and they looked clean and well kept. Location... More

Staying at Rafter J in a Comfort cabin with AC was the highlight of our accommodations on our trip to the hills. They are well set up. We had a queen bed and a set of bunk beds. There is a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and sink. There is a booth type table also in the cabin. The bathroom... More
