We chanced upon this wonderful Inn on our way from Yarmouth to Halifax along Hwy 3. Our initial intention was to just have dinner, but the excellent service and gracious staff induced us to stay the night since we had no need to rush on. The building was constructed in 1798 and has been nicely renovated by present owners who... More

We had family from out of town visiting, had been there before and knew they had an assortment of seafood so we took them there. Fish was greasy and the clams looked and tasted liked elastic bands, they were burnt and so were the fries. For a place that we had bragged about we felt betrayed. The bill for 4... More

The Lanes Privateer Inn is an historic building, so some visitors may find the rooms a bit too quaint, especially when compared to those at the brand new chain hotel just down the road. But the public rooms are wonderfully charming, and you're not likely to find a friendlier welcome anywhere. The Inn's location is superb. It's right downtown, and... More

I visited Lane's Privateer Inn several times while on a summer vacation on the south shore of Nova Scotia. I loved it! The rooms have a historic charm without being overly quaint or precious. Particular highlights included the food: breakfasts, with fishcakes, baked beans and freshly baked brown bread; dinners with perfectly prepared fish, freshly caught by their chef. They... More

My husband and I were the first couple this summer to take advantage of an evening which included a private winetasting at our table with dinner and a one night accomodation. This was truly a memorable evening. The food was excellent, the wine tasting was executed brilliantly and the overall service of the establishment was top notch. We would like... More

I stayed for 2 nights. My room was on the second floor but my baggage was carried up for me. Very welcoming at front desk. Excellent cooked breakfast included. Morning paper delivered. A bit of a fishy smell in the genreal areas but not in my room. Room was comfortable and air-conditioned. My only negative was that I would have... More

We've just returned from a trip out to Nova Scotia, where we were visiting family in Liverpool and in other parts of the province. We used Lane's as our home base, and by the time we left, it felt like we were leaving home! The staff was incredibly friendly and personable. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. The food- WOW.... More

Stayed for one night whilst touring part of Nova Scotia. Reception staff were amazing. Very friendly, incredibly helpful and amazingly warm and welcoming. We were initially taken to a room in the extension to the main building but my husband and I did not find this room particularly appealing and so we asked to change to a room in the... More

My wife and I stayed here at a friend's request when we were touring the south shore of Nova Scotia. We're glad we did because the hospitality and FOOD was fantastic! It's a very old building with a lot of history so it's kind of quiet and offers a slower pace, much like the town itself. The riverfront view is... More
