Wonderful room in such a beautiful building. The building has its own parking lot for guests and if you are the walking type, it is definitely a great place to stay and walk to almost anything in Salem. I think we only got in our car to visit the wharf and Salem Willows but the wharf is definitely in walking... More

The experience of staying at the Salem Inn is more like that of a 2 star budget motel than a charming historic inn. There were definite positives: The location is excellent, within walking distance to all the sites. The front desk staff was very friendly if not particularly familiar with restaurants in the surrounding area. The price was fair for... More

A friend an I recently traveled to Salem MA and booked through the Salem Inn - a common name for three guest houses - we stayed at the Captain West House on Summer St and this is the reply that I sent to them for feedback. The reference to the parking means that there is limited parking in front of... More

The room was quaint and lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace after a full day of walking. The staff was not only friendly and professional, but went out of their way to make me feel relaxed and at home. More

We spent this past Saturday evening at the Salem Inn. I was pretty worried about staying after reading the reviews here, but I crossed my fingers. The young women at the front desk could not have been more pleasant and helpful, and even printed out directions for the restaurant that we were attending an event at, when I discovered I’d... More

We loved the Salem Inn. Initially booked because it had a fireplace, we found so much more to enjoy. The staff was cheery and welcoming, and the little finches in the lobby added a very old world charm. The atmosphere was more like a B & B and the breakfast room was lovely. Even though our room was perched right... More

We recently stayed at the Salem Inn in one of the honeymoon suites. Upon our initial arrival and checking in to our room, we felt like our room had a smoky smell, like it may have been a smoking room previously. We decided to ask the staff about this, and they assured us that it had not been a smoking... More

That is word for word what one of the staff members snickered to us as we checked out. No apology, no offer of a discount or partial refund towards the cost of staying at this run down hole in the wall. For the price we paid to stay there, we certainly did not expect: -peeling old wallpaper coming off the... More

Dear Erika K, It is very difficult to know where to begin in responding to as negative a review as you have recently posted. Our staff member was very upset by the rude manner in which your male companion treated her, calling her incompetent and more than once hollering profanities at her (including the F-word). I believe the initial problem... More

My husband and I stayed at the salem inn main house on a friday evening for our anniversary. The hotel is in a great location, we walked everywhere! Dear Gabrielle, Thank yous so much for your kind words and recent review. We're delighted you had a pleasant anniversary stay, and we look forward to your future return. Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates what is one of our defining attributes - the Captain West house was built in 1834, and the other buildings in 1854 and 1874, each as single... More
