Although the very tiny room and poor bed sheets, staying here allows you to walk to the pagoda easily (and I think this is the most important criteria for choosing the hotel up there, where you have to walk through the upward sloping way to the pagoda). Apart from its location, surrounding valley view from this hotel is quite good.

There really is nothing to recommend this hotel, apart from the fact that it has hot showers and the only alternative hotel is no better. The rooms are tiny tin shacks with a foam-mattress bed, two tokens chairs and a shower (complete with dirty cracked tiles). Not an ounce of charm. The main clientele is very large groups of Thai... I do still want to visit Kyaikhtiyo again to see the sunset and sunrise from the top of the hill. I just don't want to stay at this hotel with unreasonable price for poor facilities. No complain with hot and cold water in bathroom but the bed is too thin. Tried hard to enjoy the breakfast with just a few... More

Staying at the hilltop overnight is very much recommended. It is a unique atmoshphere at sunset, and also early in the morning. A night at the rather basic hotel is a small price to pay for those great experiences Rooms are not clean by North european standards, however not so dirty that you feel disgusted. I did use my silk... More

I was thinking of staying at Mountain top hotel but had to go for this hotel since the Mountain top was fully booked. So this hotel is really the only option on the top of the mountain available for me. This happened to be the most expensive stay for me in Myanmar with the rate of 98$/night for one triple.... More

If you like dirty equipments, dust, moisture, bad smells, and are willing to pay around 100US$, that's the place to go. Definitely the worst place I stayed for this price range. The only good thing about the hotel is its location. We had to ask them to change the bed sheets and towels because they were dirty, remove some of... More

Firstly, there are only 2 hotels at the top. The Mountain Top Hotel always gets booked up first. Guests usually only stay 1 night here at the top. This hotel knows you have little or no choice. The rooms are tiny, there is no where to hang anything, there is no air con, no tv, no fridge. Just a bed and... More

This hotel is more like a guest house which dates back from the 60s. Dirty bathroom and uncomfortable mattress. By the way it has the best view and very close to the Golden Rock. Free wifi at lobby area

We didn't have any great expectations of the Kyaiktyo hotel - but were still disappointed. Having endured the long journey (bus/truck ride/steep hike in HOT weather) we were desperate for a shower - but no - there was no water!! None at all - nothing to flush toilets or wash hands or anything. We were told they expected this to... More

We stayed at the Golden Rock hotel for 1 night at the end of October 2012, during a major Buddhist festival. We arrived at the hotel extremely tired and sweaty after the horrendous truck ride halfway up the mountain and the steep climb up the second half of the mountain. All we wanted was a nice room and a hot... More
