I cannot recommend Castlereagh Bungalow more highly, what an amazing stay we had! We stayed in the Palmer Garden Suite with it's own private garden and views of the lake. (Rooms round back of the bungalow have views of tea trees but not of the lake). Beautifully furnished, spacious room. Sitting area facing patio doors which opened up onto the... More

Wow. This was a fantastic place to stay. We stayed at the Tientsin Bungalow, which is the original bungalow and set high up in the tea plantations. The rooms were large and airy, with a lovely old fashioned bathroom and extremely clean. Located in such a beautiful place and being so peaceful it was a lovely place to relax after... More

We stayed for 3 nights at The Castlereagh bungalow, visiting the Somerville bungalow for High tea. The sevice from all the staff was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed some lovely Sri Lankan curries on 2 of the 3 nights and a Sri Lanka breakfast on the last morning with delicious fish and potato curries and egg... More

I consider my reviews hard but fair and I rarely rate a property with 5 points as I usually find the infamous hair in the soup. However, our stay at Tea Trails (Norwood bungalow) was top in every aspect. The location is stunning, the service is very good, rooms are big and spotless and there is little to complain about... We loved Tea Trails. We stayed only one night at Castlereagh just to check it out as we currently live in Sri Lanka. The scenery is really worth the trip to the highlands. The service was the best I have ever encountered at any hotel in the world. We will definitely go back in the off peak-season. Our double room... More

I’m glad you enjoyed Tea Trails. We have 4 bikes per bungalow, which clearly wasn't enough during your stay. We have now ordered additional bikes. We noted your soy milk requirement and special ordered it but our supplier informed us of a stock issue at the last moment - being a limited availability item we could not find alternative vendors... We stayed here in the Norwood Bungalow in October and were treated to wonderful sunny mornings and although the afternoons were rainy it was the perfect mix of time to explore and excuses to batten down the hatches and read and relax. The staff were absolutely brilliant, attentive but discrete. We cycled to the other bungalows and think that others... More

As you will read in everyone's reviews, the Tea Trails experience is often the highlight of their trip to this glorious country. Clever Mr Dilmah (Mr Fernando, actually, the name Dilmah is a combination of the names of his sons), to use former plantation managers bungalows to offer guests a unique experience. This first entry in the leisure market has... More

Stay a few nights at the Summerville Bungalow and find yourself morphed back into the atmosphere of 18th century colonial british atmosphere. The ambiance is very special, the service and attention impeccable and the view from the infinity pool spectacular and meditating. Food is okay.

The Norwood bungalow was definitely the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. While the train to Hatton takes you back in time, the hotel with its five rooms is something special. From the moment you get off the car and the butler welcomes you, you relax and the only thing to worry about is how to manage to eat... More

We stayed at Tientsin for 2 nights in March, so I will only speak about that place, as “Tea Trails” does not exists but is in fact 4 independent bungalows situated quite far away from each other, especially if you are staying in Tientsin. The look and feel of the bungalow was ideal. The views of the surrounding area was... More

Thank you for your candid feedback on Tientsin Bungalow at Tea Trails. Of the four bungalows at Tea Trails, this is located nearest to a temple. We had previously spoken to the trustees of the temple and they agreed to co-operate with us by reducing the sound level during their festive days. But in March, the month when the Hindu... More
