The hotel structure is very old. But don't let looks deceive you. The rooms have been updated to a modern touch inside. Beds are cozy. Carpet clean. Bathroom is elegantly tiled. This place made a great lunch stop for our drive from Te Anau to Franz Josef glacier. From the outside it looks quaint and old world-ish, but you would never have guessed that it hides such a lovely little beer garden behind. Love the indoor and outdoor fireplaces as well. Don't just stop to take photos outside. Step inside and immerse yourself in a little history. The first time we passed by, we called in for a cold one but we came back again for lunch. We stopped here a couple of times for afternoon refreshments so can't rate the accommodation. The service was friendly and efficient. The beer garden is pretty and the pub has a lot of character. Unfortunately the whole place has a slightly run-down feeling as though it has been let go a bit. More
