When we booked our honeymoon back in July 2011 for Feb this year we knew we wanted it to be memorable, but when I say we loved it so much we didn't want to leave I'm not kidding! I was just fantastic! The staff are amazing, the food wonderful and the beach like nothing we have ever seen before. We... More

We stayed here for 3 nights over Easter. It is a nice place, close to a gorgeous beach and it includes a dive centre, which is a nice bonus. The food is amazing and worth the visit alone, it is really good. Also the staff are very friendly and go out of your way to help you. On the neg... More

Stayed here for four days with two children 7 and 9. Great food, sensible menu, good service, friendly staff, lovely accomodation, beautiful location, lots of little 'specials' like tea and freshly baked biscuits at sunrise on the beach. The swimming pools were clean and cooling with shade over one. the snorkelling trip was a highlight and we were well looked... More

Excellent food, and drinks prices reasonable. We booked into the Shamba suites; which was a bit disappointing considering the price. Different design, with very strange throne type toilet chamber with roof ribbons (echoes), and an upstairs lounging area – which gets a nice breeze, but comes across as a bit of an afterthought attic (no view either) but plenty of... This is one of the best place we have ever been. The room, clean and simple but very confortable, are just in front of the sea, protected buy only a line of palms. The meal is excellant home-made local food and you always have a double choise; tea ad cookies are served at sunrise, afternoon and evening. The service in... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. Driving through the nearby village to get here made me feel very guilty for the indulgence and laziness that I was about to experience there. But I appreciated the subdued nature of this property. The bungalows blend in nicely with the palm trees, and from my understanding, the hotel tries to use local products and... More

We could not have been happier with our choice of Matemwe Beach Village. I live in Kenya and took my parents to Zanzibar when they came to visit me. We all stayed in one of the Shambas and they set up an extra bed for me in the main room. The place is designed so interestingly and uniquely. The Shamba's... More

Everything about Matemwe Beach is amazing. The architecture is beautifully organic, the aesthetics of every aspect of the place just beautiful. The pool is beautiful and unique. The food is amazing. We particularly appreciate the environmentally friendly philosophy of the management, their conscious and non exploitative integration with the local community. The service was extremely friendly and helpful. Every night... More

we came here for a pre-wedding gathering with friends. It was such a wonderful relaxing place. the staff were really friendly, althought it sometimes took over half an hour to order a drink. the pool was lovely and bungalows were really nice. lots of personal touches - really thoughtful. the breakfasts were good, cocktails were great. I would definitely come... More

Asali suite is absolutely wonderful - having a personal chef can be very convenient (e.g., extra early breakfast before diving trip or having something specific you've been craving after a while travelling in Tanzania). It's very secluded from the rest of the area and therefore, extremely private. Although we initially had some concerns about privacy, we realized that there were... More
