We were so excited to stay at the Presidential Suite after we climbed Pico de Orizaba. The deck is large with a breathtaking view and large tub with jets. The staff wasn’t very friendly but we don’t really need fancy service. We ate at the restaurant on our first night with poor service and very overpriced food. It went downhill after we returned the following day from hiking the ruins and exploring the town on a hot and dusty day around 2 pm to find there wasn’t any water. We couldn’t shower or use the tub on the deck. We are reasonable people and just waited 30 min and then contacted management. We were given the run around for over an hour. They offered us a late check out for our inconvenience which was laughable. There was water working on the property, from the lobby to the kitchen. They lied to us and said the main water pump to the town was broken. We ended up not showering and still having a wonderful time at the Las Calaquitas Mezcalería and Margarita Concept. We returned to still not have running water at the end of the night. I can’t recommend this hotel despite the beautiful hotel and views. Do not waste your time.

Dear Mr Turner, We understand your complaints and again extend our most sincere apologies, for Posada del Tepozteco the positive experience of our guests is our main goal, and have no justification for the experience you had. That's why we gave you a full refund of the Saturday night rate apart from the late checkout you mentioned. The incident with the water supply that unfortunately happened on Saturday afternoon was due to the drought that affects Tepoztlán, and many parts of Central Mexico. Our team worked to establish the water supply as soon as possible, but it was not an easy fix. Again, we are sorry for this inconvenience, it hadn't happened before.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife an i spent three nights there. Terrific on all counts. The hotel is beautiful and the service was efficient, friendly and gracious. The buildings are perched over the town but still within easy walking distance to the center. The room was comfortable and spacious. The food was very good. A special thanks to Yuri for her hosting and graciousness. Would stay there again in a minute.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Totally delightful experience in every way: comfortable big and lovely rooms, amazing restaurant with unique dishes, perfect location (a few blocks walk to center), and every amenity available. This historical colonial hotel features the best views of Tepozteco with artistic and Mexican touches throughout. I’ve been traveling to Mexico for 50 years and rate this as the most elegant, comfortable and special hotel in Mexico. Special thanks to the owner and talented staff. Can’t wait to return!

I can't imagine a more perfect place to spend our 50th wedding anniversary. We were treated like aristocrats. The staff even put big balloons -- a 5 and a 0 -- on the patio outside our room! The food wasn't bad either!

The first night in Room 8 was noisy as it is directly next to/above the kitchen and laundry area and where staff congregate. This followed a not so friendly welcome. We couldn’t do much for four hours after arriving and not being able to access the room until exactly the 3pm check in time. We played pool and bought some drinks (no welcome drink). The pool table then disappeared for the rest of our stay. They did move us straight away to a smaller but quieter room for our second and last night. The pool is lovely and we had it to ourselves as it seemed quiet at the hotel. The temazcal is great. The food is amazing and the location excellent. It’s a beautiful hotel full of paintings and art and sculptures.

It was a pretty magical place and us and our two girls loved our stay so much we stayed an extra night. I would rate this 5 star except the service was a bit slow but they are on Mexican time. The grounds are great, the pool was a bit cool but the place is located a quick walk downhill to the town. We also had a great breakfast and the cocktails were really really good.

Posada Del Tepozteco is an elegant hotel overlooking Tepoztlan and the cliff-topped mountains surrounding the Tepoztlan valley. This Pueblo Magico is famous for mysticism and spirituality, but a two block walk took me to open air markets, where shopping surpassed expectation. Back at the hotel, rooms didn't just line up. No, I walked through gardens with fountains, statues, and paintings surprising me on the way to my junior suite with two decks. It's not just a hotel, it's an art gallery, with a spotless swimming pool, where I swam in sun that always came out. There is a hotel restaurant, but in a town famous for ice cream and indigenous food, I most often ate from venders on the streets; unique strip steak, chicken, and local jello sold for very little, although the many healing spas can be expensive. Posada Del Tepozteco is just a 3-hour drive from Mexico City to the Pueblo Magico, Tepoztlan, where the climate is called primavera eterna, eternal spring.

We loved our stay at Posada del Tepozteco. The pool was a delightful respite and the food was great. The staff were all lovely and went to great pains to make sure we got a wrist watch we had left behind. They also checked us in one hour early, which was very considerate. One tip: walk down the hill inside the property to the gate that leads to the other property with the amazing green house and garden. You'll see it from Posada if you look down. This place is called "Margarita Concept Garden". It is owned by the same people who own Posada. The place has no signage and it will likely be locked, but perhaps they will let you in. It will be worth it. The food is amazing. It is all vegetarian or vegan, and while I am neither of these things, I loved the food. But really, the drinks. They are creative and taste like the beauty of the garden you'll be seated in. I think they use much of the garden in their drinks. Maybe Daniella will be there to welcome you; she's the amazing host and manager of the place. One more tip: as another review says, avoid Room 8. This is a suite with a beautiful view of the pyramid and the mountains. But it is right over and next to the kitchen and it is incredibly hot in there and very hard to get cross ventilation. The irony is you have to pay more to stay in the room, probably because of the view, so you're likely to be doubly irritated by how hot and loud it is, and not very private. The room itself is beautiful, but not worth the hassle or price. Almost anywhere else on this gorgeous property would be better.
