If you decide to stay in Cadouin it is definitely worth to choose Auberge de la Salvetat. Don't expect luxury. In fact, that's the clue: You get basics (not poor) in terms of accomodation but the luxury is not in the rooms (rooms are for sleeping and that should suffice), but outside, where everything is beautifully designed and taken care... Thank you so much for your review and for your compliments that we have passed on to our team. We are now in our 8th year at La Salvetat and as an Auberge we have moved on, grown and developed, but we continue to stand for the same principles: a warm welcome, clean comfortable rooms and in the restaurant reasonably... After our first day of cycling in the Dordogne and after cycling up a steep hill, we arrived at Auberge de La Salvetat for our two-night stay. What a surprise. The location and the gardens are truly beautiful. The rooms were cosy and comfortable, the dinners excellent. Steve and his staff were more than happy to assist with booking cars... More

Have just returned from a week's stay in this little part of the idyllic Dordogne and missing being there already. Paint a picture in your mind of delicious meals on a warm wind wafted terrace overlooking the beautiful grounds and fabulous infinity pool; of warm and personable staff who have a delightful sense of humour; of comfortable and charming bedrooms;... Fantastic place in the countryside near to the small village of Cadouin. We spent there two nights in September 2011. Very quiet: there are no other houses around for kms. The owners and staff are very friendly . There is a beautiful "infinity" swimming pool. Rooms are simple and very nice. Plenty of parking space. Excellent restaurant. Outdoor dining in... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Homely room in a converted cow shed with tea and coffee making facilities - a rarity in France. Fabulous views over the swimming pool and beautiful countryside. We were on fixed menu but alternatives were possible if these didn't suit taste. Good local wine by the pickets. Steve was particularly friendly as was the lovely... More

I have not stayed there but I have eaten in the very good restaurant. The food is excellent and the service very good. Steve and Ann are wonderful hosts. The Auberge is situated amid the wonderful rolling countryside that you would expect in this area.. We were very warmly greeted by the owners and shown into delightful, spotlessly clean, en suite bedrooms. The food and service were superb and the wines not overpriced. We were lucky to have warm evenings when we could dine out on the terrace which... More

Very pretty and well looked-after place. Terrace and pool overlook rolling countryside. We had a good meal in the restaurant and could hear the amazing sound of stags bellowing in the woods. We stayed in one of the ground floor garden rooms which are comfy and have good-sized bathrooms. The only downside was that the room was a bit dark... More
