Having stayed in this hotel several years ago my recent visit was a total pleasant surprise, the whole of the hotel has been totally refurbished to a very high standard. The reception area and bar was extremelly well done and made for a pleasant evening if one wanted a quite night in away from what can be a very lively... More

Great Ale for Sweeps festival had a great time. Not a folk person but I enjoyed the music. I will start selecting Ale from now on. great section from all over Kent. The staff were very nice, excellent location from the city.

This place is not to be missed. The owners and staff make this a really enjoyable stay. The rooms have a character all of their own and the recently refurbished reception area and hallway make for an eye opening welcome. If the owners could update the bathrooms in the same manner then perfection would be achieved. Situated in the most... More

We booked this planned two night stay by phone and no mention was made of any disruption at the hotel. We arrived to find the ground floor is a building site. Five or six workmen, pulling the place apart plastering, knocking walls down, sawing, hammering, painting. Dust and dirt everywhere and lots of safety issues. The whole place really does need renovating and cleaning and... More

There was no water pressure. So I had a trickle instead of a shower. Upon coming back late, I found the door to the hotel locked and despite ringing the bell a few times, no one came to answer until what seemed like ages. Finally got in though. The TV didn't work, however, the room itself was fine. Not glamorous... More

Upon arrival we were allocated Room 10, which was dated, but nicely presented. The shower was only a trickle despite the impressive looking shower head! Upon pointing this out to the very pleasant Duty Receptionist, she inspected the shower for herself and disappeared to get someone (who it later transpired was a waiter!) He stated the shower did work, to... More

We managed to get the price down to £50 and to be honest I wouldn't of paid £20 a night the place is pure dirt throughout a lot of the rooms don't have cold water two of the rooms that share a bathroom are basically broom cupboards some of the staff are very rude and ignorant would advise to AVOID

Had a great one night stay at this hotel. The decor is vintage but I felt this gave the hotel a great atmosphere. The hotel was clean, as was the room and the bathroom. We thought the breakfast was great, with a range of options. The staff were also friendly. Really didn't understand the hugely negative reviews!

The best bed had experienced for a long time (including the one at home!), great mattress and crisp wholesome sheets. So a fantastic nights sleep. The room could have done with a deep clean, the remotes were filthy, the tv unfathomable and surfaces in the room and ensuite were clearly left out of the cleaning schedule. Repairs had been botched.... More

Booked in to this hotel for two nights stay. The interior is very tired with carpets worn and patched. The room was in a similar condition, not clean and very dusty. The buffet breakfast room was very tired and again not very clean. Morning coffee is from a sachet and an urn of hot water. The waiter was less than... More
