We noticed a considerable difference between the meals we were served as part of a tour party and the a la carte which we chose one evening which was excellent? A lunch buffet consisted of boiled or steamed whole chicken breast and new potatoes, not a drop of sauce or colour - yuck - but - the langoustines and scallops... More

We spent 3 nights DB&B through a deal in this hotel. We know the area well but had not visited the hotel apart from perhaps having a bar meal. We were very pleased with our sea-view room which had plenty of space to relax in and was very clean, comfortable and cosy - the latter not something you usually need... More

This 40 bedroom hotel has three great assets - staff, situation and cuisine. Almost all the staff are friendly local folk, attentive, interested and helpful, some of the nicest people you would want to meet. The breakfasts were good, as much to eat as you could want. We found the dinners quite exceptional - among the best we have ever had in... More

We arrived on a wet day and were greeted in a very friendly and jovial manner by Fiona. The hotel is very close to the Ferry to Skye and the rail station. The public areas are nicely decorated in keeping with the overall age and character of the hotel. The rooms are nicely furnished and the beds comfortable. Food both... More

After a very long day leaving Belfast at around 6.40 am on the Stena ferry to Cairnryan and driving to Mallaig this was a lovely old Victorian hotel, lovely helpful young porters to assist with luggage - no lifts so this was appreciated. Our room was clean and very comfortable, lovely view to the islands. Dinner was acceptable, vegetarian Mushroom... More

Two great nights spent at the West Highland Hotel. Lovely room, tasty food (and lots of it) and possibly the friendliest, happiest staff I've come across in a long time. All that and wifi in the bar next to a real fire - heaven. Wanted to stay longer..... already planning to go back.

We stayed at The West Highland Hotel for 3 nights on a dinner bed and breakfast basis after being given the stay as a gift from our family for our honeymoon. We had an absolutely fantastic stay, we felt extremely welcome from the moment we arrived and out little dog Alfie loved it too. The food was incredible, fresh and... More

We were stuck in Mallaig as we missed our last ferry to Skye at 6 pm and did not get 3 rooms in any B & B so had to check in to the West Highland. At 100 Pounds, its a complete rip-off. The rooms are basic and small. no elevators to the second floor make it impossible to carry... More

My husband and I stayed in the hotel over the Easter weekend. The moment we arrived we received first class treatment. This included the warm welcome from the duty manager - Pamela and the hospitality and friendliness of the hotel owners. Our room was excellent, beautifully and tastefully decorated. The views that you awoke to were stunning. I can't think... More
