Proximity to station perfect. Even though they had our booking for the wrong day we were accommodated without fuss and given a choice of room. Mallaig is a small working fishing port, anyone expecting city standards needs to think again. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are many eateries of excellent quality within metres of the hotel.

Good location next to the train station and ferry terminal, clean rooms, the staff is very kind but unfortunately no breakfast available in the hotel. I enjoyed every moment of my stay in Mallaig thanks to the Marine Hotel. With their local insight into the best country walks, best restaurants, and general great humour my stay was as welcoming and friendly as anyone could hope for. No hot water. Half the electrics not working. Some rooms look out onto a wall less than 18 inches away. No staff to sort things out. An absolute disgrace to Scotland.

I stayed at this hotel in the summer of 2010. Undertaking re-furbishments, I realised the staff's embarrassment. However, the attitude of the staff and the people I met at the bar was irreproachable. I suspect sassenachs, including those from across the (Atlantic), ditch don't get it.
