I thoroughly enjoyed a very long stay at Marijani in 2010. It was like a home away from home, welcoming, safe, delightful owners and helpful staff. I enjoyed the "watch dogs" who are friendly to guests, and the cat who adopted me, as well as the parrots. The view from the roof is breathtaking, the village welcoming and fun, beaches... More

I read some of the negative reviews on this guest house before we booked it, so I was prepared for the worst. But we had no bad experiences and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and our whole stay. The rooms are very pleasant and it's so great to have the option of cooking your own meals and having a fridge... More

Location was great 2 mins to the beach, 2 mins back to centre of town, gardens were lovely, room was clean with big bed and mozzie net, bathroom was fine and place felt very safe and friendly. Tortoises in the gardens were so cute. More of a bar or sitting out area on the roof would have been good.

Second time visiting Watamu, and a bad experience with dirty room at another guesthouse made me search for something else. That's when I found Marijani which offered us a good price when we come as a big group. What I really like with this place was the feeling of privacy and staying in a house instead of a resort. The... More

We stayed at Marijani over Easter for four nights, it was really nice. Try and get a room on the first floor, it was spacious and the balcony was just lovely. The place is beautiful and really good value for money. Philip was really helpful and friendly, so ask to see him when you arrive. I feel that Marijani has... More

Usually I don't like to write negative comments, but in this case I think it's necessary to give my honest opinion. Please note that I am NOT a picky traveller, I am a backpacker and have seen many hotels in Kenya, and this one was my least favorite of all. Let me start by saying that indeed, the location is... Nice and friendly atmosphere with staff who has a personal and warm style. Safe and close to the beach and the village. Very good budget option and reasonably priced. We are a family with two children, 7 and 10 years. We spent 11 nights at Marijani. We had two spacious rooms next to each other on the second floor (room... More

We stayed here for a few days over Christmas and had a really lovely time. The guys who run this place are extremely helpful and friendly; they made us feel very welcome. My 4-year old son loved the pet turtle, dogs, cats and dancing parrots and had more than one giggle with the staff. The rooms were simple, great value... More

We stayed at Marijani for 5 nights in December just before Christmas. We arrived after a very long bus journey and our room wasn't ready but they kindly let us use another room to have showers and freshen up. We found the hotel to be very secure, there was always someone watching the gate. The staff were really helpful and... More

The Marijani is a very friendly guest house in small village of Watamu near Malindi, Kenya. The room rates are very good and the staff so willing to help the guests. It is set in lovely surroundings near Watamu beach on the Indian Ocean.
