We had an absolutely fabulous week at Costa Sal. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back!! Friendly, helpful, professional staff, good facilities, and very clean throughout the complex and “rooms”. We were lucky enough to have a two bed bungalow near to the bottom of the complex - lovely position backing onto the smaller pool. The bungalow was a great size, a huge double bed (super super king - maybe 7ft?) in the main bedroom, and a twin room with two singles. Air con only in the living area, but this made loads of difference as it was 30+deg whilst we were there last week. Fully equipped kitchen - hob, oven, plenty of cupboard space and equipment for cooking. Walk in shower - liable to flooding, but just turn the flow down a bit and it’s fine! Plenty of sunbeds round the pool with little “holding for the day” behaviour - made aware of the “rules of engagement” for sunbeds in our arrival info and this seemed to work really well!! Pools were cleaned and tested very regularly, and had a mix of shallow and deeper water - both pools had children’s areas that were very shallow. Poolside towels can be hired for €10 each deposit, can be changed once a week and deposit returned when towels are brought back. Restaurant was either buffet or from an A La Carte menu - plenty of choice. We didn’t eat from the buffet (just not our thing - but looked lovely) and found plenty to eat on the menu - chicken goujons, Iberian croquettes, steak and BLT and chips were all very tasty. We also ate at the pool bar (wasn’t open everyday, but think it’s limited outside of peak season), which is a really nice facility and lunchtime option. The restaurant is open breakfast, lunch and dinner, so each meal is covered if you want to eat there!! We found it great to have the option, and had evening meals here 3 times during our week. On-site mini market is very well stocked - including PG tips and Nescafé :-) !!! Open every day other than Sunday, which was really helpful. We also used the Spar in the shopping centre (mentioned below) as we were often passing, it was just as close for carrying, and involved less steps!!! (The complex is on a hill, but with ramps throughout). Location wise, if you go straight out of the bottom gate of the complex, turn right and then left (just before Sol Lanzarote gates) to the shops and restaurants in a small shopping centre - about a 5 minute walk. The same to the seafront promenade - just a few minutes away. If you turn right at the seafront you can walk round to Los Picallos for more shops and restaurants, and then keep walking to Puerto Del Carmen (about 80 mins walk through to the old town). Alternatively, if you turn left at the seafront and walk for about 15 mins, you will find the aeroplane viewing point - definitely recommend for watching landings and take offs!! Taxi ride to Puerto del Carmen was about €10 if you don’t want to do the walk. We really loved this quiet little complex, good location and plenty for all ages - pools, tennis, spa, small games arcade, pool tables, bar area. Mix of families and couples of all ages - just a really lovely feel. We haven’t visited before it changed to be a Ilunion complex so don’t know what’s changed, but for us, this was still a really wonderful complex and we will definitely be back. Thank you Costa Sal and staff!!…
