Have been to Matagorda numerous times and thought we’d try this complex for a change. Whilst the location is great and close to the beach, bars and restaurants, the complex and the bungalows desperately need modernising. The complex needs a lick of paint and the sun beds are dirty, patio table broken and generally the place needs an urgent upgrade. Inside, again the bungalow needs brining up to date - lack of power points, kitchen units are tired and the bathroom needs some money spent. It’s not bad value for money, but compared to other placed to stay nearby, this complex needs investment and desperately modernising.

Stayed here for 2 weeks Bungalow was bright and newly refurbished although all they did was paint it all white with black door handles which kept falling off , new flooring nice kitchen area fresh and enough for 2. Very disappointed with cleanliness only had bed changed once in two weeks with a poor attempt at cleaning so did it myself. The pool area was shocking iv been here before and this time it was filthy, kids pool infection waiting to happen larger pool tiles round edge full of black scum never cleaned once the sunbeds were disgusting needed binning Old dirty, garden areas just shocking floor tiles filthy, now I do believe they are planning on closing to refurbish the whole complex well it needs it but I certainly Won’t be going to Sal Marina again. Great location just spoilt by shocking service or lack of it.

Arriving @ this complex in June 2019, we were looking forward to a nice relaxing, comfortable holiday, we were bitterly disappointed, The daughter of the caretaker showed us to our bungalow, no pool view.

Matagorda’s Salmarina bungalow complex is merely two-minutes’ walk from the Commercial Centro. Block one has six bungalows and block two had ten facing the pool. We stayed in number 7; compact with fitted kitchen/lounge including an oven. The kitchen utensils could be replaced with new ones and because of no air-condition, sleeping proved a problem due to the extreme night temperature as the bedroom veranda doors had to remain open to permit are through the louvre outer doors. Any noise, late taxis and chatty walkers disturbed our sleep. Towels were regularly changed; however, the beds had been changed once during our ten-day stay. Wi-fi was free but there is a charge of €1.50 per day for the safe. The pool is way too deep for non and nervous swimmers to enjoy; 1.50 to 2 metres and is not a gradual slope. There is a shallow children’s pool surrounded with ample loungers. We had an ant problem but purchasing a repellent sorted them out. Totally satisfied with our accommodation and with some improvements to complex lighting along with extra pool cleaning, this complex would even more sort after.

What can I say stayed at these bungalows several times and it’s a pleasure they are close to the beach , close to the shops , bars and places to eat and the centre , the bungalows are pleasant and there is a pool and safe gated complex perfect for families and friends , the bungalows are great inside , great value but one thing I will say the lady who deserves a fantastic credit that keeps these bungalows clean changes all the bedding , towels , cleans and sees your ok and always goes out of her way is a lady called Miriam a Dutch lady she certainly goes out of her way and this is much appreciated but at the same time she deserves a pat on the back for what she’s doing for people and in my opinion deserves a pay rise she’s amazing nothing is ever to much trouble , best place we have stayed at in Lanzarote 5 stars can’t wait go back

Cannot fault location or cost of this bungalow. We stayed in Salmarina 1 which had amazing views across to the sea. As for the bungalow itself as I say you cannot fault the price but there are just silly things wrong with it that will cost next to nothing to put right. The sunbeds are awful. Old and tired, only lay flat and no cushions are provided...these cushions could easily be available for hire as other places do on the island but the sunbeds seriously need renewing. Shower is good as in pressure and hot water but the tray overflows and floods bathroom floor. Some mould and mildew remover in the bathroom would not be a bad thing either. Again cheap to fix. Towels are replenished midweek and are of a good size and quality, you will need to buy loo roll as what they provide isn’t enough as you also only get 1 midweek which is thinner than an empty crisp packet! Cleaning service once a week. There is one adapter for plugs to the tv, microwave and toaster and these are the only electric power leads available. None in bedroom. So electrics could maybe do with updating because as far as safety goes all I can say is I’m glad there’s a smoke detector directly above this 5 way adapter coming from one mains socket!. The beds are comfortable enough, it is impossible to find a mattress that would suit everyone but we had no trouble sleeping and were more than comfy. Kitchen cupboards and cook are adequate as are pots and pans provided if you choose to cook. I used the hob once and it worked fine. Good fridge. Outside area with washing line provided but did not use it. Do not knowwhere the communal washing machine was but wasn’t a problem as we plenty of clothes. Entrance into the complex was fine with instructions provided on arrival but the lady that we had to take our passports to the day after at reception (was closed due to short staff the day we arrived) was not particularly friendly or welcoming. Neither was she when she came to clean our room a week later. Hairdryer was available on request but do not use as it burnt my hair. All in all though it’s a nice complex and at the end of the day you get what you pay for and I would return because location and comfort was fine. As for the ladies who work in the reservation office, their communication from the start to the end of our booking was excellent. They were extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely visit if cheap and cheerful is what you’re after as you will not be disappointed

My husband have just got back from a 5 night stay here , first impressions were great as we walked round to our bungalow lovely & peaceful. The bungalows are very basic & very dated but clean & they did the job for us . You have to keep in mind what you paid & can’t expect too much but we would definitely stay here again.
