There aren't many hotels in Castiglione di Sicilia and you could do far worse than choose the Hotel Federico II. We had a pleasant room (after rejecting the hotel's initial offering immediately off the entrance lobby). It was spacious, clean, quiet and reasonably comfortable, though an easy chair would have been a nice addition. The bathroom fixtures need a bit... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in this gem of a hotel run by a charming family in the interesting medieval town of Castiglione di Sicilia. The hotel and our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and every interaction with the staff warm and friendly. We ate in the hotel restaurant Sine Tempore every night enjoying Sicilian specialties and... More

We stayed for 10 days and enjoyed very much our holiday. Great hotel, very friendly, extremely kind and helpful staff (it's a family business, everyone was helping which gave the whole place a special atmosphere and made you feel at ease and almost like home right away). Definitely the place to choose if you're looking for a special experience, authenticity,... More

Wonderful hotel set in a pictureque hill top town in the Etna region. Great service and hospitality from all the staff most of whom are family which helps. Room and hotel were spotlessly clean, the restuarant provided a good choice of local food and wine and was very reasonably priced. A little hard to find initially but you soon get... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here in September for 10 nights. We were a bit nervous about it being in the middle of nowhere, but had no reason to be - the town is lovely, and a short, windy drive to the larger, nearby towns. In fact, it was just as pretty, if not more so, than most of the... More

We stayed here for the first three nights of our first visit to Sicily, and were charmed by Hotel Federico and its location. The hotel is modern, spacious and comfortable inside a very old building, in a fascinating old village. Having decided to eat in the restaurant on our first night as an easy option after a longish and tiring... More

We stayed at Hotel Federico II from 6 till 8 July. It is a lovey hotel in a beautiful medieval setting and a perfect base to visit the Etna and the Alcantara river. Our room was large, spotlessly clean, had airconditioning and a nice small balcony with a breathtaking view over the city and the valley. Breakfast was super with... More

I appreciated the well cleaned room and the large bathroom with windows. Good the light system and the furniture. I enjoyed so much the wonderful terrace . Every one of the staff was kind and ready to the customer satisfaction. But what I enjoyed more was typical Sicilian food of the restaurant: it was excellent!

The surprise highlight of our trip to four parts of Sicily, Castiglione is an ancient village that hangs on the sides of steep hills. We planned to use the hotel as a base for exploring Etna, Taormina, and Naxos, but were sucked into the charm of this half-abandoned town filled with picturesque vistas, pretty window boxes, old churches, and fascinating... Delightful, fully renovated hotel in a characterful Sicilian medieval hill town. Spacious well decorated bedrooms kept spotlessly clean by the friendly staff. The hotel is family run and the service is excellent, they could not be more helpful. The town itself has seen better days but is a warren of fascinating, if sometimes crumbling, historic buildings. The hotel restaurant is... More
