We stayed at Bellplot House to break our journey down to Newquay. The welcome was friendly and the room was really lovely, and we felt great value for money. The breakfast was delicious and our fifteen month old daughter was made very welcome. We had dinner at the Bath House Hotel (as recommended by the proprietor of Bellplot House) and... More

We were visting the Southwest to take a trip to River Cottage and came across the Bellplot in Chard. Having never visited this part of the country before were unsure where to stay. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and advised of some local attractions to go and visit on the Friday evening. The hotel is clean and well kept.... More

We stayed at Bellplot house when visiting River Cottage. It is about 20 minutes away and is a nice old house. The rooms was small but nicely decorated and clean. Breakfast was very good and used local, good quality produce (except the baked beans, try Branston, they are much nicer!). Chard itself is limited although we had a nice meal... More

We stayed at the Bellplot on 25 January. Excellent breakfast. Good value for money in a charming house. Lots of period features, including sash windows. Particularly windy the night we stayed, and had to make adjustments to stop the window rattles! Will definitely revisit; look forward to sampling the planned addition of coffee shop and cream teas!

Stayed for a couple of nights attending a family function. Spacious family room in a lovely house and first class breakfast. Rather noisy outside on the Saturday night, but it was the Chard carnival in the evening (which was very impressive)and celebrations at the pub next door went on until 4am. We would definitely stay there again

If you are staying in Chard this hotel is perfect ... if the weather is warm. The rooms are clean, spacious with a pleasant en-suite, plush bath towels, powerful shower and comfortable bed. The owner is friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a very tasty couple of glasses of white wine from the bar at the end of the evening.... More

We stayed there for one night on our way to St Ives and we could have easily stayed there much longer. The house is amazing and built in original flint with high ceilinged rooms and antique furniture. The owner is very friendly too. Beakffast included fresh fruit which is a plus and the only drawback was that there was no... More

Stayed on night on a breif trip to the area. Looked at other reviews but the hotel room did not live up to our expectations. The bed had probably the lumpiest mattress we've ever tried to sleep on, and there was just one very thin pillow for each of us. The en-suite was adequate, exept that there was no where... More

Needed to arrange one night's accomodation at very short notice and very pleased to be able to get a lovely double, en-suite, room. Very high quality, plenty of tea-making and toiletry items and very good quality towels, etc. Everything clean. Full English breakfast. Comfortable bed and no traffic noise even though hotel is on the main A35/High Street. Plenty of... More

We stayed here for 2 nights over jubliee bank holiday weekend to attend a wedding at Forde Abbey. Great location not far from the Abbey and plenty of other places near by to visit - you would need a car. Hotel - Beautiful building with lovely large clean well furnished rooms (we had booked 3 and all were of a... More
