We stayed at the Yakunah 4 nights in March. Our downstairs room was lovely room, good bathroom, but overlooking a small street level parking, so we did not open the window or blinds. The hotel is actually an old mansion that has been converted, it is not very large, the owners have done a great job. There is a nice... More

Small boutique hotel (not really a B&B since breakfast isn't included) in a colonial home that the owners have fixed up very nicely. Our downstairs room was large and comfortable. Friends stayed in an upstairs room which shared a terrace where they could see the Gulf, but there's no internet connection upstairs. Great breakfasts and dinner. Garden area/pool is nice.... More

This small hotel is very clean and has tropical ambiance. The restaurant - Bar is lots of fun. We went there for their Saturday dinner and dance (6-7 Happy Hour) (must make reservations for dinner). We had lunch with live music (Wednesday 1-5) this was really fun. Friday evening is Karaoke and it also was enjoyable. This hotel caters to... More

We stayed at Yakunah for 3 nights in January 2011. Pros: The hotel is very clean and beautifully renovated. Spacious rooms, tile floors, high ceilings, cozy inner backyard with a small pool. Location is quite far from the centro of Progreso, which is good if you want peace and quiet, but you'll need a car to get to the centro.... More

We stayed at Hotel Yakunah for 4 nights in December. The property was gorgeous and very well maintained. The room was lovely -- very spacious, high ceilings, and a large bathroom. We enjoyed having drinks and watching live music at the bar, and the owners were very accommodating of our vegetarian needs (in fact, it was the best food we... More

While I did not stay at this hotel, I did frequent the restaurant and bar a few times. On a positive note, the gardens and main areas are quite lovely. However, the attitude of the staff and owners leaves a lot to be desired; it is not their pleasure to serve you, it is their chore . The place is... More

Hotel Yakunah is a lovely property. My husband and I stayed there for a two night getaway while touring the Yucatan. The pool and grounds are meticulously maintained. Our room was large and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the service was terrific. The owners are friendly and accommodating. They have a wonderful "Mi Casa es Su Casa" attitude and... More

This building in which this hotel is housed is truly beautiful. It has high ceilings with fantastic tile floors, each room having a different design, stained glass windows, beautiful antique light fixtures. It's nicely decorated, both inside and out. There's a small pool, with beautiful plantings, seating, etc. around. Our room was large and light, with much character. Being inside... More

We spent 4 weeks at the Hotel Yakunah in Jan and Feb 2011. We stayed in the apartment. The grounds were like a little oasis, lovely gardens, very tranquil. Gerben, the host is a terrific cook and Elke is a wonderful hostess. We met lots of fun people during our stay and had a great time. Ramon, the taxi driver... More

Spent 2 nights in February and had a good, standard inn/B&B experience. We arrived on a late flight (500 pesos fixed cab fare from Merida airport) and the night man, Ray, was standing by to cheerfully show us our room and serve us a drink. Room was large, nicely decorated, with adequate amenities. Breakfasts were good, cooked to order. Pool... More
