Located on the main coastal road north of Huatulco area, this lodging is superb! The tiny coastal community of San Agustinillo has a half dozen to a dozen places to enjoy a quiet sandy beach. From the roadside, most of this areas accommodations have the appearance of being 3rd class lodgings, but don't be fooled. This particular gem is ideal... More

Loved this place. The rooms are colorful and artistically inviting. I loved the bathroom with the breeze from the ocean blowing through the open air windows. The bed was very comfortable and romantic with views directly out to the ocean. Small and intimate with only a few rooms. We loved it. There was no pool but who needs one when... More

Three families shared a week here in March 2012. The accomodations are lovely, open air, with ocean breezes and noises all around. The bathrooms are artful, with organic toiletries from a local business in Mazunte, earthy tinted stucco, smooth rocks, woven grass shades, white cotton tent over the bed with fan, stocked mini bar and coffee maker. Our second story... More

The missus and I spent four nights here last October (2011) and really enjoyed our stay. This beach town is one of my favourite in Mexico; physically spectacular, not too busy and that classic Mexican charm. And Punta Placer is probably the nicest place on the beach, perhaps equalled by La Termita, a few doors down. Pan y Miel is... More

Last winter my husband and I spent 2 weeks at Punta Placer, this winter we went for 3. I find very little to complain about with this hotel. The entire staff is very nice, and patient with someone (me) who is really trying to learn Spanish. While it is true that David (one of the owners) doesn't try to talk... More

Punta Placer had a great beach. The cabana was well decorated. The bathroom was modern and clean. Other amenities included mosquito netting, in-room refrigerator, free wifi and a safe deposit box. The restaurant on site had great breakfasts and snacks. The management was a bit disorganized. Though staff collected room fees upfront, receipts were not provided until requested of the... More

I went a couple of months ago with my boyfriend and was treated disrespectfully to the point that it affected the experience. The owners will shake you down for the full balance days before you even leave, and oh yeah -- they require cash payment and don't tell you this until they shake you down. If you don't have the... When you compare it to the nearest cabana places: it has the best location and the nicest cabanas. Be aware: on one part of the beach, the waves are eating away the lounge area of the hotels, making them look a bit dodgy.

San Agustinillo is one of the loveliest beaches in the region and Punta Placer, on the eastern edge, has the best location of the few places to stay there. The cabanas are nice and clean, with comfortable beds - including the space for extra beds for kids. Wifi was a plus because this was one of the few places (in... More
