My husband and I are crazy for Cathare's history! that's why we have choosen this place. Pictures were nice on the internet but the reality was much more better. A wonderfull place, the hotel, the restaurant, the staff... everything was high class level ! Thanks to the chef and his wife for the stay we had in their hotel. More

Our room was a 5 min walk down hill from the chateau. Not fun in rain and the golf cart is terrifying on the steep hill. There was no lounge as it was being used by a large group and the special menu for 31st dec and 1 jan was the same. The food was stingy, the rooms tatty and... More

I am stunned by the negative reviews. We were referred to this hotel by the local tourist office. It remains one of our favorite hotels of all time. We loved the mash-up of hip decor with the historic building. The countryside was beautiful. So much to see and do, was so close by. But the best part? The food! Breakfast... More

Our first thought was who had stolen the original chateau doors. Front entrance totally underwhelming and everything they don't want you see is covered by curtains. Behind the curtains are old boxes and plastic bags and a good impression it isn't. There's a smell of cigarette smoke coming from somewhere and reading a previous review it must have been the... I expected top-class service from this highly-praised restaurant (not hotel) when I booked two months in advance, but my requests for a table either on the terrace (with spectacular views) or the elegant dining room were ignored. Instead, the owners used a staff sitting room (complete with large TV screen and chairs pushed out of the way under a shelf... More

The reception is luke-warm and not very informative, you're left feeling not welcome. We were dispatched to our room with no idea about facilities or meal arrangements. One lounge area was never presented to us and with the owners often taking refuge in it to watch television and smoke, we were left thinking it was their private TV lounge. Our... More

This is a lovely place, an hour east of Toulouse and 40 mins north of Carcassonne: Its a former castle - you drive over a bridge and moat to get in! Our room overlooked rolling countryside and was very tastefully decorated. We went halfboard for 180 Euros between us. Dinner was a delight - lots of nibbles to start with... More

My husband and I stayed at Pomarède in the summers of 2005 and 2006 - we found the food fantastic, the chateau beautiful and enjoyed both stays. The staff were very nice. Madame, however, was a bit grumpy. Nevertheless we are sure to return in view of the spectacular setting and the friendliness of the restaurant staff. The rooms are... More
