The hotel rooms are spacious. Windows are big, there is lot of light in the room which makes the rooms comfortable. There is a big balcony on each room.Unfortunately the TV sets are just awful. There is WiFi in the rooms but it does not really work. Beds are a bit worn out. Breakfast is really good. Rooms are really... More

I know Mariehamn inside out, but I have never stayed at Arkipelag as a hotel guest before. In the summer time this is the place to be, to party and be seen. The atmosphere by the pool and in the al fresco restaurant and bar is almost Mediterranean in July. But the hotel rooms are just sad. At least the... More

Hotell Arkipelag looks like East-Germany or Soviets. There is nothing alluring in the house. Having said that Arkipelag is well worth looking inside. Renovation has been done well. Hotel rooms are somewhat spacious, modern and clean. There's a balcony on each room.

We spent just one night at the hotel, but we were actually impressed with what we saw and experienced. The room faced the seaside with a large balcony. Perfect! The decor of the room was slightly dated and old-fashioned (the 70s or 80s maybe?), but in good shape anyway. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean! Probably the cleanest... More

Good news is that now the hotel has free internet in the rooms. The bad news that compared to our previous visit the rooms and the hotel needs to be updated. If feels like being in the 70-s. We had ordered a double bed and got of course a twin room. The receptions help with this was that the beds... More

Relatively large hotel for the size of Mariehamn. This is a rather dated hotel but it is sufficiently comfortable to make this a small negative issue. It is near the ferry terminal but you will need a taxi unless you know the way. The food at lunch and dinner was very good. The room was larger than I expected. I... More

Imagine a 1960s shopping precinct and cross it with the civic centre of a small town and you have the Arkipelag. It was built in the 60s/'70s as part of the parliament complex and is very 'concrete'. Indeed the complex is so complex that it is difficult to find your way in, out or around the hotel with many locked... More

First of all, location and service very good. But when you enter the room, you time travel to the 90's. This is supposed to be the best hotel in Mariehamn, but still the rooms are very old fashioned and some how it feeled dirty. Food is great and the casino located in the same building is very nice too. Because... More

The highlight of the hotel is the reception staff who were very friendly, helpful and efficient. We stayed in 2 rooms, and we would recommend, at least in summer, making sure you get a room with air conditioning, and if staying at the weekend make sure you get a room facing the sea to avoid the noise from the street.... We stayed for two nights and it was ok, but for the price a bit over the top. We had a sea view room which was a bit dated, maybe because it was a "dog room". Fair enough. At night the air con did not manage to keep the temperature at a pleasant level and we were forced to keep... More
