We stayed for 4 nights in mid-May 2019. We had a nice spacious clesn room with spacious bathroom. Food was very good, even if breakfast was a bit modest. Granted, this was still quite modest if you compare it to European standards - but you are not looking for a Hilton-level experience while exploring the nature and wildlife, aren't you? :) We stayed at a number of different places accross several national parks in Malaysia and Indonesia - Tangkoko lodge was one of the best! Overall - a great location to stay at while exploring Tangkoko!!

Rather a well organised homestay than the level one can expect from a lodge. Rooms are simple but ample, clean and air conditioned. Abundant hot water and cold beers. Food is basic but abundant and tasty. Maybe breakfast a bit short. Nice garden. Walking distance to the entrance at the Tankoko Batuangas Dua Saudara Nature Reserve.

Tangkoko Lodge is simple accommodation but the best accommodation on there, i already try to overnight on Tangkoko Hills but the rooms more smaller, so i still recommend on Tangkoko Lodge with very friendly and very humble staff, The Owner (Pak Bobby also working with NatGeo), He never asking client to write on tripadvisor but if you already overnight on Tangkoko Lodge and try to another accommodation.. i'm sure you will back to tangkoko lodge, food is tasty, if you have problem during stay on Tangkoko Lodge, Just call the owner or staff.. They will help you.. FYI : if you want trip on Tangkoko, i'm suggest stay on Tangkoko Lodge due to they have many professional Ranger for trip on Tangkoko Forest... another hotel just help you find common ranger without good knowledge

As others have said, this is a basic lodge. The bathroom is a wet room, with towels but no soap or shampoo. The bedroom was small but did have air con. The sheet barely covered the bed but we took a second one from the cupboard so we had one each! Lunch and dinner were basic but tasty. Breakfast was a fried egg, with a loaf of sliced bread, butter and peanut butter. But you come to Tangkoko to see the animals, and that we did. We saw tarsiers in the evening, and the black macaques in the morning, experiences that made the basic accommodation entirely worthwhile.

Bobby went to great lengths to help me send my makassarian motorbike in north sulawesi (a very difficult task). Eventhough I wasn't staying at his place originally, he treated me with the outmost hospitability, filled my hungry stomach and made me feel very welcome. Thanks to his good connections throughout sulawesi and his proper english skills, we managed to arrange the selling of my motorbike. As I hear Bobby is an excellent guide for the tangkoko national park, but first and foremost, he is THE MAN to get in touch with if you are planning to buy or sell a motorbike in north sulawesi! Terimah kassi Bobby!

Given that the Tangkoko Lodge is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, the Lodge was passable as far as the room was concerned. A bed and a small table was the extent of the furniture. The bathroom was minimal, but the shower did have hot water. Expect to fend for yourself here, as there was no assistance at all. Also, electricity was off everyday all day long so don't expect to be able to power any electronics during the day. There was WiFi, but very weak signal so only emails were possible. Our biggest complaint was the service of the food. Food was basically thrown down on the table and then we never saw the server again. The quality of the food was OK, but it would have been nice to have someone ask if we needed anything during our meals. By the way, if you need coffee bring your own--they had some horrible powdered stuff that tasted like mud. On the upside, the Lodge was very close to the Tangkoko National Park, which is the reason you are considering staying in the area anyway.

Looking for jungle/forest treck means some sacrifices. Indeed the place is closeby the tangkoko park (10' walk). No reception, no real welcome, feel a little lost when getting there.Real lack of explanation/service Rooms are simple and old fashion. Relatively clean though and hot water was appreciated for shower. Food is good and in good quantity for teens. Place for bird watching specialist, Bobby the owner being regionwide known on this expertise. Great guided visit to the park, very careful to our questions and interesting trip. A very simple place which is ok as known but explainations and stronger welcome required. Not comfortable enough to stay the 2 foreseen nights. Only stayed one and canceled the second.

The accommodation is very basic, the room smelled a little funny and the "western style" bathroom was basic at best. But it's an ok place to stay and there's not much choice in Bitung. And you won't spend much time there anyway - we spent most of our time in Tangkoko National Park and really only slept at the hotel.
