We booked a three night break at the end of April and had a wonderful stay. It is a lovely old, solidly built house which means you don't hear the person next door sneezing! Our room was on the top floor, great heating, really comfortable beds and what looked like a newly refurbished bathroom. We enjoyed two lovely dinners at... More

We were sold a cheap deal at a show so we weren't expecting the Ritz! Stunning lakeside location, but it turned out our room was in the coach house across the road with no view. Conservatory area has lovely views but only upright chairs. Wi Fi area was a small corner of the very dark lounge. Coachouse room had a... More

We arrived late at night and were pleasantly surprised with our self catering loch side accomodation. There is a dish washer and lovely views from the kitchen diner. There is a great shower downstairs and a large bath and sink upstairs in the bedroom! We did not expect this ! The heating did not seem to be working but electric... More

After reading some of the reviews, we were wary about booking. However, it is not anywhere near as bad as made out in some reviews and certainly nothing in comparison to Bagdad!!!! Our water was clean but they did provide mineral water free of charge (they are in the Scottish hills and can't do much about peat in the water... More

Had a 2 night stay in the hotel in April. The location is world class and the views out of the loch on a sunny day are just wonderful. The service is mixed with the British staff being helpful & friendly and the Eastern European staff being a little less attentive and perhaps needing training in a service ethic. It... More

We stayed here in April. The service was very poor and our accomodation was definitely not as clean as it should have been. When we explained our concerns we were treated as though we were idiots, but a dirty bath, sand on the floor and pubic hairs in the bed are far from acceptable in my opinion! We had asked... More

We stayed for a long weekend at the end of April. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean and comfortable. There is a problem with the water which was explained to us on arrival, bottled water was freely available. The location is fantastic with great views across the loch. The food was very... More

My family and I have now stayed at this hotel on several occasions and regularly see the owner at shows etc. We prefer to stay in the loch side apartments as they are absolutely ideal for anyone travelling with four legged friends. The ground floor being stone flagged and with the bedroom separate upstairs, to avoid the early morning wake... More

We were due to stay at the Portsonachan last May and ever since I have been trying to get my money back from these cowboys as we could not stay in the hotel. Upon arriving we checked in to our Loch side Lodge and have never been greeted with such a filthy pit, even club 18-30 holidays have standards. The... More

Took a Lochside chalet as we had two Labradors (not allowed in hotel bedrooms). What an amazing location! Absolutely on the Loch. Accomodation was clean and comfortable. Lovely dining experience in the dog friendly conseratory. Food was good and plentiful. Staff were all very pleasant and ready to answer any queries. It was a wonderful stay at an extra-ordinary location... More
