I dont want to complain about someone being too nice but seriously the owner here just doesnt stop talking! thats ok if you have not done days of trekking with no shower and you are so exhausted that you just want to sleep and this guy seriously talked for 30mins! it took us that long to get the keys from... We stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting Abel Tasman. The location is wonderful, it is a short drive out of Marahau, but it's amazingly quiet and there's lovely views into the bush. We had some great star gazing at night too. Very friendly welcome and we got the impression that nothing was too much trouble. The double... More

We visited Kanuka Ridge as a party of two couples. On arrival our reception was friendly and humourous (from the four Alison's !) The location is about five minutes drive from Marahau and the start of the Abel Tasman walk. The location is lovely amongst the palms and wood, rural and very quiet. One couple had a double room with... More

We had a cozy double room with ensuite, which has nearly hotel standard. Veranda at the backyard inbetween plants and trees, Veranda at the entrance with optional space for taking a seat. Garden with hammocks and sitting groups, Kitchen with bbq well equipped. Hosts Cathy and Al are very friendly and helpful and made our stay a real memorable one.... More

My husband and I stayed three nights here in an ensuite double room. It was impecibly clean and had the most comfortable bed we have experienced thus far in our travels. The kitchen is very well equiped and kept pretty much spotlessly clean. As this is a small backpackers it has a lovely atmosphere, and it is lovely and peaceful... More

This felt like one of those lucky finds - ensuite private room at hostel prices in a gorgeous setting. Private rooms are small for a hotel but generous for a hostel. Wifi costs extra but was not working when we were there. There is a shared kitchen with refrigerator and coin operated laundry. Private rooms have a parking space on... More

This hostel itself was very nice. I think the owner definitely left a positive impression. He showed us around making jokes left a right, very amusing! I definitely feel that his hospitality and humor made this such a memorable hostel. The hostel was remote and relaxing with nice random hammock spots to lounge overlooking a view. It's about a 5... Reviewing this from my comfy king-sized bed at Kanuka: After passing through touristy Motueka, we were relieved to find Kanuka Ridge was located up a small hill and away from all the hubbub (and closer to the Coastal Track - about a 10-minute drive). The lodge offers private en suite doubles and a few camping spots (with access to shared... More

We stayed for two nights in a twin room en-suite. The room was not huge, but clean and tidy and it had a wonderful terrace outlooking the forest. The owners were very helpful with information and bookings on Abel Tasman National Park. Communal areas were in good shape, too. Location is just outside Marahau - so it is really close... More

When we arrived the owner seems to be a little borred and very commercial. We don't like it when the bathroom is outside of the building where you sleep, because it's very dark at night. The bathroom is very basic. You can't use your cellphones, because there is not any signal. Wifi is very bad and you have to pay... More
