When me and my girlfriend first arrived at the hotel we walked into the reception, there was nobody at the desk. After waiting for ten minutes, I decided to go into the bar which was joined onto the hotel. I approached the bar and asked where to check in, and I was told we were to meant to check in... More

I booked this hotel online because it had fabulous reviews. They charged our credit card in advance of our arrival so there was no chance of cancelling if we didn't like it. Pulling up across the street from the hotel was very disappointing to say the least. The outside is very shabby looking. If it hadn’t been paid for in... More

A spur of the moment visit to Stonehaven resulted in a fairly last minute booking for one night only at the Royal. The welcome was friendly and the check in quick and efficient. The room was spotless with a comfy bed and a nice modern bathroom. (I particularly liked the individually set keycode locks). We ate in the restaurant and... More

Was booked in by company & was given Room 11, decor a bit dated, shower leaked between glass partition & bath - flooding floor, sea breeze comes in the side/bottom of windows & plug didnt fit sink. brought problems to attention of staff & said they would address issues with the manager in morning. Nice view from room 11 over-looking... More

Travelling between Aberdeen and Johnshaven so decided to stop off about halfway at Stonehaven, just on spec, to get some lunch. We saw the Royal Hotel so we called in. The dining room was attached to the bar but was distant enough so as not to be too distracting, and there was a tv in there showing the football results... More

Stayed for one night. Central location opposite the Square. No car park but plenty of streets where you could park without restrictions. Reception unused so checked in at the Hotel Bar. Easy check-in. Room eleven was our reservation. Shown to our room and we had a sea view. Clean and tidy. Not huge but fine for our purpose. Double bed,... More

Booked for a three night stay, over a week in advance, only to be told on arrival that they had overbooked and no rooms were available. The hotel however had decided not to phone me, but to book me into a cheaper, local inferior B&B, but attempt to charge me the full hotel rate for the three nights. The B&B... More

We stayed the night after a lovely family meal. The food was great, with 11 of us eating there was a variety of meals chosen and everybody commented on how good the food was. All the meals arrived hot and obviously freshly cooked. I can highly recommend the Cullen Skink, definitely one of the best I have tasted. Our main... More
