The warm feeling you get when you enter this hotel lobby stays whithin you for the rest of your stay. In theese rough and cold surroundings, the contrasts make you feel greatful. The view is fantastic, both to the nature and to the kiters at Finsevann. Fresh homemade bread every morning. More

The rooms were reminiscent of a prison cell with a fjord view. It was very basic, very small, all white, no curtains and the beds were not comfortable. It was also a lot of noise from people walking on the floor above our room. The common areas were nice and three-course dinner was excellent all though we had to wait... More

Stayed here in September, 2008 on the way from Oslo to Bergen via Flam. The common areas of the hotel are relatively nice. The rooms felt a bit dungeon-like, but were comfortable (albeit small). The location at top of the "Norwegian Alps" is very hard to beat. There is great hiking and sightseeing in the area. Definitely worth a stop... More

Bring your own food, if allowed or stay in the area in a tent. The hut is as all mountain huts in Norway - basic. That was expected and welcomed. However some mountain huts in Norway have soul and some don't. This one.. not so much. The staff was not very friendly and the food was below average. More

I stayed at this hotel for a week in January. The public areas (lobby, dining room etc.) are very comfy, but the rooms are really basic (but quite roomy, at least mine). To be honest, they were probably the most basic rooms ever that I've ever seen in any _hotel_. Sure, many hostels have rooms like that... But the view... More

My family had an amazing weekend in Finse, hiking and riding along the Rallervegan in sunny autumn weather. It's a trip we'll remember for the rest of our lives, and if you're thinking of going, nothing I say here should deter you. But, I was a little disappointed with Finse 1222. I just don't think they can continue to charge... More

In this case, the hotel *is* the destination and the start of adventure. This is a fullboard hotel so breakfast, a packed lunch and thermos, and dinner are included in the price. There is raw beauty all around outside, with the glacier in the background, the water, the enormity of the sky which suddenly seems so much closer. Inside, it... More

Rugged, comfortable hotel, with decent food. Not beautiful, not 5star, but the location is incredible. The highest point of the Bergen Oslo line, not accessible by car, only by train, bike or foot. Amundsen trained here for his South Pole expedition. George Lucas used this location (Finse) in the Empire Strikes Back. And I had dinner with an astronout. But... More

The most important reason to stay here is of course the place: the highest point of the railway line, where you walk on the mountain 5 minutes from the hotel, and on the Hardangerjøkulen glacier in a bit more than an hour. We were here in the summer, but in the winter and well after that, it's skiing area. After... More
