Ok, I know the rooms could be cleaner and the furnishings were old. But, I liked this place. It is off the main drag enough to be quiet, the staff pleasant and very helpful, and housed in the former Thai Consulate building that gives it character. The balcony is a great place to sit in the evening or mornings. After... More

This hotel, in a fading colonial house, has high-ceilinged rooms (ours was with a balcony too.) I'm in agreement with many of the other reviews - the place is not well-maintained; and the bathroom was ropey : a cracked room with a showerhead coming out of the wall (no shower area as such). The breakfast in the garden was good... More

I've been to this place about one year ago and returned to Savannakhet again this year. We decided to stay this place since the other places are quite far. The room is a bit old, not so good smell and the bath room is not that good. The room rate is $30 a night including breakfast (fried eggs with bread,... More

We chose this place as it was the most expensive in the Lonely Planet guide and we thought it would therefore be of a decent standard. 25 dollars a night is actually a lot of money for this part of Laos. The room was dirty and smelly and we could see cockroaches crawling out everywhere in our room. On the... More

We did stay here for one night. And I must say I like to location and I like the old-colonial style of the guesthouse. I also like the big rooms, but it is all a bit worn out and not really clean. But again it is only 3min walk from the boulevard along the Mekhong river.

If you like old buildings with plaster walls, high ceilings, and creaky wooden staircases, this might be for you. If you're sort of enchanted with the idea that a young teenager with minimal English language skills is in charge of the reservation desk, and you don't mind that there's no housekeeping services, then by all means stay here. I'm actually... More

We travelled down to Savannakhet from Pakse to get visas for Thailand at the consulate there. We booked a double room at the Sala Savanh despite reading the negative reviews because the Sala Lao company website appeared pretty professional (they promptly replied to our emails), the photos of the accommodation at Sala Savanh were impressive enough and, given that their... I spent only two nights in Savannakhèt and I stayed at Sala Savan. It’s not a hotel, not really a guesthouse. The building is really beautiful, probably a former French colonial house that used to be the Thai consulate. Unfortunately, it is not comfortable at all. Rooms are dirty; my bathroom was incredibly small. As my room was on the... More

I spent a night here when I first arrived Savannakhet. The room is fine for me except it smells really really bad. Free WiFi and breakfast available and they have only five rooms here in total.

I've stayed 2 nights at this guest house. I've found it online and chose it because of good reviews i've read about it. Well, It is a terrible place. Save yourself from troubles and don't come here. The room we've got is the double bed (the only one they have with a double bed) on the first floor. The room... More
