Little motel type (not really boutique) accommodation where we were given a quiet self-contained unit. We didn’t want to cook and make the kitchen dirty, although there was a complete kitchen, so the owner agreed for one-night stay. We were in the country for a month tour, and this place was by far the most "rustic" we visited...a word that apparently means old and outdated. Great place to stay. The owner, Col, couldn't be more helpful. The rooms are furnished beautifully with elegance and charm. There is a very useful kitchen and a drying room for the winter months. In summer there are lots of great treks to do.

We came from Auckland by train (Kiwi Scenic) which took about six hours. Four of us stayed after a long day skiing. We had two seperate large rooms with ensuites, a little lounge room and a little kitchen. It was like a little miners cottage. Very cute!
