Lovely grounds. We stayed 2 nights - doing the zip lining on site was fantastic. The primary forest is amazing. For the price we paid in low / shoulder season ( week after Holy Week) I thought it was overpriced for what we got. Breakfast is about $8 or so per person so it cost alot for a very basic... More

We had a big chalet style room with unfeasibly high ceilings, and very nice it was. it's a couple of miles out of Santa Elena, which itself isn't all that special. We were in a relatively remote cloud forest, which was quite enchanting. The staff were very good, attentive without being obsequious. Wilfred even went to a local attraction to... More

I really liked this lodge. The rooms were simple and fitting, being in the style of wood cabins, with high ceilings. Ours was immaculately clean. The lodge is a twenty minute steep walk from the town, which didn’t bother us as the town is noisy and touristy and not that interesting. The lodge gardens are full of birds; we had... More

Very pleasant lodge; quiet and out of the way. 4WD highly recommended. I really don't like to stay right in a tourist- busy town. Staff was very friendly with good English skills. Service was professional. We loved the large rooms with high ceilings and beautiful wood. Having traveled quite a bit in Costa Rica, we really appreciated the large bathroom... More

If you are looking for a place close to the noise and crowds, this is not the place. If you want to be in a quiet place away from the noise with friendly staff you have found it. Wake up to birds, hike early to see wildlife and this place is in the feeding lanes for birds. Also, the grounds... More

This hotel is right at the top of a hill in the cloud forest, the views from the restaurant/bar area are absolutely amazing! The staff were all so friendly and really made you feel welcome. We ate in the restaurant one of the nights, the food was good but the place did lack atmosphere. It’s a bit far too walk... More

My girlfriend and I went on a three week birdwatching trip to Costa Rica and this was our fourth stop. We reached Santa Elena via the northern road (which goes through Las Juntas) from the Interamericana Highway and, as anyone who has taken it knows, it's a particularly rough trip, so finally arriving at the lodge felt great. (We now... More

While the road to Monteverde Lodge was unpaved gravel, and uncomfortably curvy, the Lodge at the road's end was like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! We thoroughly enjoyed the evening/night guided tour of a nearby preserve. Our guide was most personable and knowledgeable, and the flashlight provided was top quality, together assuring that we got... More

It's by no means a 5-star hotel.. But for nature lovers who are going to Costa Rica to watch birds or enjoy the nature, this is a very accommodating, nice lodge that's not on the main road where all the rest of the hotels are. This gives it a few advantages: first and foremost is the peacefulness and tranquility and... More

My sister and I stayed here for three nights. Breakfast was included and was good. Service was also good. Our waiter was fairly new and obviously learning the trade, but did a good job and remembered that I was alergic to milk and made menu recommendations for me based on that. Both waiter and waitress were friendly and accomodating of... More
