We used this camp for only one night as we were travelling through Gambia and Senegal. We arrived in the afternoon and it was very very hot (May). Unfortunately the small swimming pool only had about 30 cm of very very green and slimy water with loads of undefinable things in there so no cooling of there. The rooms were... More

This is a large camp with many rooms in little houses, much like its own town. The property has clearly seen better days. My room was fairly large, but worn and rough, and not exactly spotless. It had its own bathroom with a shower and a noisy ventilator, the bed had a (dirty) mosquito net and some sort of a... More

After three years returned back to the Tendaba Camp. Stayed there this time from 03 February to 05 February 2012. We had a little misgivings as we remembered our stay in 2009 too well. That time we had one of the rooms in the old round huts. That was no good. This time we got a room in one of... More

Tendaba would not be a camp of choice to stay in - that is if you had a choice! If you want to go birdwatching up river, and want to take boat trips into the mangroves, then Tendaba is your only real choice. The food is okay, the older rooms are very run down. If you are looking for a... More

Like others, we can cope with "clean and basic" but the condition of the rooms and site is quite shabby. Although one has to remember that this is Africa and Tendaba is the best accommodation in the area, a coat of paint in the rooms, work and lighting on the paths, and new pillows, bed linen and towels would go... We stayed in June 2009. We spent one week in luxury in the west coast and spent the second week 4 x 4 travelling and sleeping rough. When we arrived at tendaba camp it was a luxury end to our rough and tough second week. It is nothing like the western idea of 5* luxury, the private rooms are basic... More

Rooms not especially clean and we had to push to get moved to a room where the shower worked. Restaurant ok, nothing special. However, great location on the banks of the river. More

Well jaw dropping to say the least! what a shame this i expect was once a nice place but it has fallen into a sorry state of dis-repair.We refused the VIP rooms offered and refused to pay more for the slightly better riverside rooms though a little better they were dirty we had to ask for a fan but were... The best way to describe the room I was offered at Tendaba was one up from an animal shelter - and that was in a 'VIP' room. We were prepared for somewhere basic but clean and would have had no problems with this but it was simple foul on all accounts. This included most of the staff which wanted to... More

We weren’t expecting much from Tendaba, so we weren’t disappointed. The room we had – supposedly a ‘VIP’ room as it had an ensuite shower and toilet – was pretty basic, though it did have a ceiling fan. The door to the bathroom was stuck open and wouldn’t move. The site of the camp is fairly large, with lots of... More
