Greeted by friendly staff with lots of information about the area and guidance for border crossing etc. Was a bit weird to have western staff after the Thai staff in most other places, and kind of seemed a different atmosphere as a..." result. We were offered a choice of rooms at various budgets. We settled on one for 800 BHT which had a view of the Mekong, in the new buidling. Had mosquito net over bed, but door had gaps in which let insects in - bit weird considering the room is quite new. Nice garden (but not as spectacular as some reviews would suggest). Location is very good, with a 7-11 and tuk tuks in one direction, and then riverside bars and more tuk tuks in the other! We were there on a Tuesday night and the big Vietnemese restaurant was shut and there was very little life along the riverside bars (except Warm Up bar with Thai band, whcih was good).
