The rooms were fine, just like a normal nice hotel. But it's definitely the rest of the hotel that's worth the experience. Two pieces of advice: - Make sure you figure out exactly where it is and how to get there beforehand. We winged it in a taxicab from Maputo, but it turned out to not be a good situation.   "Tinga is a wonderful lodge with an incredible location on the banks of the Sabie river. The views from the main deck as well as from the rooms are really quite special. The rooms were great with really comfortable beds, a spacious lounge area as well as decks with plunge pools and loungers. The th..."ing I think I was most impressed by was the food we had whilst we were there. My boyfriend and I really are foodies and we were impressed with absolutely everything we ate!!! Lunch and dinner time was always something we looked forward to as we were presented with a different menu each mean with varied options- always with starters and then fish, meat and vegetarian option as well as delicious desserts. Breakfast was also pretty hard to beat- especially for a relatively small lodge. The service we received was great, especially from Reading at breakfast, Samantha at dinner and also each time we were escorted back to our room.   "Our first stay at the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate was in 2004 and we have been regular visitors since then. We like it because of its proximity to the Kruger and because of its special atmosphere created by the wooden walkways, the African bush that envelops it, the outdoors boma where the buffet dinn..."er is served and its deck overlooking the Sabie River and Kruger. The rooms have been revamped since our last visit. This time we stayed in a superior room, which was bright and fresh. The luxury rooms used to have heavy, dark curtains and I don't know whether these have been replaced during the revamp - I hope so! The staff has always been pleasant and accommodating. I needed a fridge for medication during our last visit and a bar fridge was delivered within minutes of me asking for it. We have used the gym - it is small, but has large canvas windows that can zip down and we have watched elephants in the river bed while cycling and running.
